Bring our girls Back home
The feelings of a mother not knowing If her daughter will return home or an father being
put in a place where he knows that everyday that his child leaves home for school , he knows
that he or she security is being put on the line. In the year 2014 was the year of the abduction of
200 girl were kidnapped from a high school school in Chibok by the Islamic group Boko Haram”
Boko Haram’s practice of kidnapping is much bigger than Chibok “ Hilary Matfess . the
abduction of the 100 girls was an eye opening for the community seeing that their government
can’t protect them or even their children caused an influence in their community. Over the years
the government officials have not play their position into protecting them. The country has went
out their way to seek out help from other they creating a social media platform according to the
new york times writer Casey Quakenbush “ the Kidnapping sparked international outcry
launching the #Bringourgirlshome Campaign”. This support from others international has put a
eye of the country government itself and has even put hope into the country.
The Nigerian authorities have failed the families and must protect the girls in Dapchi and
all over the country's northeast. That's where Boko Haram has mainly waged war on the military
and the government and targeted civilians for the past nine years. Almost 2 million people have
been displaced during the insurgency, which has killed more than 20,000 people.Boko Haram
has stripped the girls from their belief and insanity. Dressing them in dark gowns and head
coverings and broadcasting the image to the world leaving some shund that they went against
their religion. Aisha a victim of the kidnapping say “ They told us to never to go back to school

but to read our quran” forcing the islamic religion on the girls pushing that the value of education
is below the learnings of the religion. wanting to further her education but she can't because the
fear of returning back to school and flashbacks of the scenery of the raid. The community has
reached out to the government even Aisha’s father putting their foot down on for high demand,
wish for high gated fences and a armed military around the school for protection. Religious
leaders in the community has done rallies for the community support speaking on what they
against. Religious leader Alhaji Kachalla Yoroma says in his speech “"They say Boko Haram.
But 'boko' [education] is not 'haram' [forbidden] for us, because we are all now enjoying
Western education. We are against Boko Haram," he says. "Islam means peace. We are
living for peace. Abducting children and killing innocent people and burning houses –
No one can deny that the community of nigeria has become stronger from the
kidnapping of 2014, but the country still suffer from the lack of security. Now four years later “
the April 14,2014 scenario is being played out again” “- Anna Cunningham. Boko Haram
delivered another slap in the face to nigeria february 19th,2018 an boarding school in dapachi
100 girls were taken.before the abduction officials were informed but didn't take actions “the
nigerian Army received at least five calls up to four hours before the militants rade the boarding
school in daphic ,but they still did not take measures to stop the abduction or rescue the girls
after they gathered into vehicles and driven away”- Dionne Seary even with head start before
anyone was harmed the government still could take action to prevent. They were scare of the
boko haram power the government knows what the group is capable of doing being that it is
one of the biggest terrorist group in africa . So instead of taking action they stood back a way
not be overpowered with the wants of the group wanting to overthrow the government and
convert the country to islamic state . The kidnapping and lack of security drew international
attention to the ongoing threat from Boko Haram and the government’s inability to contain it.
