FRACLAB HYDRAULIC FRACTURE TEST

SYSTEM
The FRACLAB Hydraulic Fracture Test System performs hydraulic
fracturing and rock triaxial compression tests on 100-mm diameter core
samples at confining and pore pressures up to 70MPa and temperatures
up to 150°C. For hydraulic fracturing experiments, the apparatus
determines specimen breakdown pressure at given confining and pore
pressures, after which the tensile strength and frac-coefficient are
computed. In triaxial tests, static elastic properties including rock’s
Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio can be determined. The device
comprises a deviatoric triaxial cell which can be configured to conduct
either rock mechanics or hydraulic fracturing tests. A lifting mechanism
facilitates specimen setup. Four servo-controlled syringe pumps are
utilized to control confining, axial, pore and fracturing fluid pressures.
