On-the job training is probably one of the best ways for the

students to apply and develop the skills they have acquire from
school. Through the OJT, I am able to practice the things that I
have learned during class, particularly in those accounting
related work. This OJT does not only offered me the opportunity to
apply my skills and knowledge, but also it has given me a chance
to observe one of many actual working environment for the course
I have taken and through this I have also gain an experience that
I could use for my future job.

I rendered my on-the-job training at Philippine National Bank

(PNB), Montilla Boulevard Barangay 7-Dahohoy, Butuan City. I was
assigned in the Loans Department, Business Center together with my
co-trainees. April 10, 2018 the day it all began. As I sit in the
waiting area, Sir. Chack then approached us. And asked us if we
are those OJT that kuya loloy was talking and we said yes. We
started late with our OJT, so from then on we were oriented by Sir
Chack. He told us what should we do and not do. Then after that he
said we can immediately started our OJT today. The thing that Sir.
Chack said that really remained in my mind is that we should be
willing to change.

The first thing I have learned is on what are the parts of the
check and on how to formulate an abstract of post dated checks, at
first I thought it would be hard, but with good instructions from
Ma’am Danica, I was able to perform that task easily. More passing
days means more new stuff to learn too. I have done intra-office
transactions, filling of various legal documents to respective
folders of loan borrowers, facilitate notarization of various
legal documents of PNB clients, encoded some data from a purchase
order, scanning and encoding of certain loans and legal documents,
prepared an Average Debit Balance and helped in formulating a
Consolidated Financial Statement. This task weren’t all easy, some
needs more attention and time than the others. But their
similarities is that you really have to be careful in doing them.
Certain error will always have consequences. Mistakes are normal
but we must always learn from those mistakes. Though I started
late in my OJT, I still believe that I had enough time to learn
the things that I need to learn from the people that is willing to
partake some of their knowledge in this field. I did not only
acquire new experiences and knowledge but I have also learned how
to work with other people which is totally not my thing before. I
became more open to advices and criticism which I know will help
me improve the way I work and perform task. I learned that
sometimes we need to get out of our comfort zone for us to be able
to stand in our own feet.

As we end our OJT today, I would like to extend my deepest

gratitude to all of you Ma’am and Sir. I would not have survived
my 200 hours without your help. Thank you for the knowledge you
have shared not just to me but to all of us. Thank you for believing
that I could do all of the task that you have given to me. Through
all of your help, Ma’am and Sir, I became a better person than
that person I used to be. I became more interactive to people now
and this experience definitely reduced the shyness I’ve been
carrying inside me. I’m really thankful that you have given me
this great opportunity to explore, observe and discover new things.
This day wouldn’t be enough to thank you all. I have developed a
sense of attachment to all of you and I hope we would still meet
in the near future. God bless us all.
