ACTIVITY NO. 3.

4
What’s the Shape of My Graph?

Name: __________________________ Grade & Sec: ______________

I. Objectives:
1. Described accelerated motion of an object in terms of distance, speed and
acceleration.
2. Create and interprets visual representation of the motion of objects.
II. Materials:
Graphing paper
Pencil
Ruler
III. Procedure:
1. The illustration below represents a motion of the marble as it moves from the ramp. The
distance travelled by the marble was measured for every second until it reaches to six
second. The result of each trial is shown in Table A.

IV. Observation:
Table A.
Time of Travel Distance Travelled (cm.) Average

19 18 19
29 30 30
47 46 47
71 72 72
107 107 106
2. Solve for the average distance travelled by the marble. Write your answer on the last
column of Table A.

3. Plot on a graph of average distance vs time on the x-axis using the data on table A.
4. Complete Table B using the average distance in Table A then compute for the average
speed.
5.
Table B.
Average distance travelled Ave. Speed = Ave. distance
by the marble (m) Time ½ time (Sec)

6. Create s speed time graph using ½ second as the time interval. Describe the slope of your
speed time graph
