3. Applicants Qualifications

■ International Students Qualification


Applicants must meet one of the following requirements.
1. A person whose both parents hold nationalities other than Korean
2. A person who completed elementary, middle, high school and college or university
education in countries other than Korea

※ Applicants can apply for any department regardless of their previous Bachelor's (or Master's)
study field.
※ Applicants who hold a Bachelor of Medicine or Bachelor of Dental Clinic are eligible for studies
in the Clinical Medicine Field of Medical Science.
※ No Yeungnam University professors other than ‘International Professors for Education’ affiliated
with the College of Basic Studies is allowed for admission under the University policy.

※ Applicants for Ph. D. degree must submit both Bachelor's and Master's Certificate of Graduation/Diploma and
official transcript.

1) ∎ Applicants who submitted Certificate of Prospective Graduation must submit Certificate of Graduation/Diploma after
admission decision.

∎ If the academic supervisor employed at our university provides financial support for an applicant, the

∎ However, Chinese applicants who need to get an entry visa to Korea should submit the following documents
even though the academic supervisor provides financial support. (Certificates of Employment, Certificates of
Income and Original Bank Statements for both father and mother, respectively)

7) ∎ If all family members are not in one household register, Certificate of Family Relations must be submitted.
8) ∎ Official report of English or Korean Proficiency test taken after Nov. 1st, 2015(TOEFL, TOEIC, TEPS, IELTS,
KLPT, KLAT or TOPIK) is only valid and should be included in the application package, if applicable.

8. Additional Information for Application

❍ All required documents must be translated into Korean or English.


❍ The applicant should select the major and department that he/she is applying for. Any disadvantage caused
by the applicant’s mistake is her/his responsibility and application documents and fees will not be returned.
❍ If any required documents are found to be counterfeit and not submitted, admission will be revoked.
❍ Admission-related matters not specified in this guideline will follow the rules prescribed by the Graduate
School Committee.
❍ Applicant should submit additional documents when requested from Yeungnam University for fact checking
❍ Applicants who submitted Certificate of Prospective Graduation must submit Certificate of Graduation/Diploma
ASAP after the admission decision. Otherwise admission will be canceled.

Waiver Students who receive a credit of C or below for any one of the courses OR average GPA
below a 3.0 in a previous semester among those eligible for 100%, 70% or 50% tuition
waivers

1) The Scholarship policy may be subject to change or adjustment, depending on the circumstances.
2) All types of scholarship are only given to a applicant who has been recommended by his(her) department.
After admission, according to departments’assessment at each semester, the scholarship types can be
downgraded.
3) After admission, if a student receive a credit of C or below for any one of the courses of a semester
including Research Ethics OR average GPA below a 3.0 , the student is NOT eligible for 100%, 70% or 50%
tuition waiver in the following semester.
4) All students must buy medical insurance available in Korea under the Government Policy.
〔A student can buy medical insurance in Korea after admission(by the beginning of March, 2018) or provide
proof of one's own medical insurance that is accepted in Korea. to graduate school office〕
5) A student receiving a 100%, 70% or 50% scholarship should work as a Teaching or Research Assistant for
about 10 hours every week.
6) ‘International Professors for Education’ affiliated with the College of Basic Studies in Yeungnam University
are eligible for the 30% scholarship only under the University policy.
7) Each scholarship does not cover admission fee.

11. Dormitory

12. Visa Issue
❍ Sojourn status : D-2
❍ Where to Apply : Local Korean Embassy or Consulate

Procedure
1. Yeungnam University mails admission materials, including “Certificate of Admission,” to
applicants in order to apply for “Student Visa”.
2. Applicants apply for “Student Visa” with the required documents at the Korean Embassy or at
the Korean Consulate in the applicant’s country.
3. Applicants obtain “Student Visa” (D-2), and enter Korea.
※ Students with a D-2 visa who wish to stay in Korea for more than 90 days must visit a local
immigration office or branch office and apply for an alien registration card within 90 days of entry in
Korea.

13. Degree Verification

Admitted applicants who received the degree from universities outside of Korea must
submit the following documents for degree verification.
