The guided visit to the municipal camal de calca was carried out, where wastewater is generated,

these waters are grouped in the group of industrial wastewater, the wastewater from chambers is
characterized by high content of organic matter in terms of BOD5 and COD. The discharge of these
effluents without receiving body treatment such as water and / or soils, cause a large negative
environmental impact, for these reasons the municipal wastewater shaft is implementing a
treatment method for its wastewater effluent this treatment is given by means of of anaerobic
biological reactor with screens.

In the same way, the visit to the wastewater treatment plant of San Jerónimo was made, where we
made a tour of the entire plant guided entirely by the teacher of the course of wastewater
treatment and the person in charge of the plant, This plant was designed and built taking into
consideration the characteristics of the Huatanay River and the characteristics of the wastewater of
the city of Cusco, the capacity of the plant is 800 lps. Having a constant daily flow of 400lps. where
approximately 82% of wastewater from the city of Cusco is treated. The wastewater treatment
plant of San Jerónimo is designed and implemented with state-of-the-art technology, using
percolating filters, anaerobic sludge treatment with ecological components and the treatment of
the biogas generated in the process. The San Jerónimo WWTP would have the capacity to treat the
physical, chemical and biological parameters of the wastewater of the districts of Cusco, San
Jerónimo, San Sebastián, Santiago and Wanchaq, thus being able to provide the service of health
and public welfare.
