1. PRESENTATION
This 2-wire bus inter-communication system has been designed for emergency calls from elevators. The
system allows establishing a network of inter-communication between a car and a porter, the machine
room / E&I panel or fireman’s. Additionally to intercom, a specific module allows to interface the REM in
car. Several cars can be link to the same network. The setting of different modules is easily done by DIP
switches. Using only one pair and only one power supply makes the installation very simple.
The new generation of intercom modules V2 complies with the European standards EN 81-28, EN 81-
70 (call filtering, 2 pictograms outputs, compatibility with an acoustic inductive loop amplifier
F_A 512 AB1) and EN 81-72 (fire fighter lifts).

2. WIRING
2.1. Precautions
‰ The installation of a network with more of 2 modules needs use of a 12 V power supply
including a choke (F_A628H1).
‰ Different modules must be connected by a 1-pair cable (*), minimum 0,5 mm².
‰ The bus cable must be separated from high voltage cables (48 V – 380 V).
‰ No modules must be installed near the power drive.
‰ The bus wires must neither be lead through the controller cabinet nor through the mains terminal
connections.

(*)If the distance between the power supply and the furthest module exceeds 250 m, or if the
installation is in an unsettled environment, the use of a shielded cable is recommended.
The shield must be connected to 0 VDC in the power supply and the shield must be open in
the other end and must not touch ground anywhere in the installation.

5. INITIALISATION
The system is ready as soon as it is powered up.

6. OPERATION
6.1. Emergency car calls:
When activating the Alarm Push in the car, an attention tone will be heard in the machine
room, the Porter’s and the E&I Panel modules. The tone will be heard for 1 minute in the
machine room module and the number of the car will be shown in the display if the filtering
input releases the call :

‰ Receipt of a call on the porter’s lodge or machine room modules F_A 512 AC8 :
Ö Press the # key to establish communication with the Car. The car module is always
hands-free.
Ö Press the button to talk and release to listen. Press the # key again to end the
communication.
‰ Receipt of simultaneous calls on F_A 512 AC8 module :
Ö If several calls append simultaneously, they must be treated one by one, either by
taking the line by pressing the # key (the calls are treated in the increasing order number)
or by keying the numbers of the cars directly on the keyboard. During communication the
waiting calls are signalled by bleeps and the waiting car numbers are shown on the
display.
‰ Receipt of a call on an E&I Panel F_A 512 AC7 module:
An attention tone will be heard in the E&I Panel module for one minute and the LED
blinks.
Ö Press the "bell" (left button) to establish communication with the associated car. The
car is always hands-free and the LED on the E&I Panel module lights up permanently.
Ö Press the "finger" (right button) to talk and release to listen. Press the « bell » again to
end the communication.

6.2. Calls from a porter’s or machine room F_A 512 AC8 to a car
Key the number of the car directly on the keyboard to establish the communication with a car
module. The Car is hands-free. Press the button to talk and release to listen. Press
the # key again to end the communication.

6.3. Calls from a fireman’s F_A 512 AC3 to the associated car
6.3.1. In X81-72 operation mode:
When the Fireman’s switch on, communication with the corresponding car is established.
The car module is hands-free and the Fireman’s module push-to-talk, release-to-listen.
To free the line, put the Fireman’s switch off.

6.3.2. In EN 81-72 fire fighter mode :

When the Fireman’s switch on, communication with the corresponding car is established,
as well as with the associated 81-72 machine room module - three-way conference
between these 3 modules. The car is always hands-free. The Fireman’s module is push-
to-talk, release-to-listen. While talking on the Fireman’s module, the push-to-talk button
on the machine room module is blocked. As soon as the fireman’s PTT button is
released, the machine room module can enter the communication and vice-versa. To
free the line, put the Fireman’s switch off.

Note : On an installation sets for 81-72 operation, a call from the machine room
establishes communication with the associated car only.

- 14 -
LIFT INTERCOM SYSTEM V2 NOTICE 358 B

6.4. Calls from an E&I Panel F_A 512 AC7 to the associated car
To call the car :
Ö Press the "bell" (left button) to establish communication with the associated car. The car is
always hands-free and the LED on the E&I panel module lights up permanently.
Ö Press the "finger" (right button) to talk and release to listen. Press the « bell » again to
end the communication.

6.5. Adjusting the attention tone for the porter’s and machine room F_A 512 AC8
It is possible to alter the attention tone by entering the following codes:
‰ 994: normal volume attention Tone.
‰ 995: low volume attention Tone in.

6.6. Prolonging the communication period

Every activation of the push-to-talk button on any module but the car, will prolong the
communication period with 3 minutes, except for the fireman’s module where the
communication period is 30 minutes.

6.7. Function of the pictograms in intercom operation

This paragraph defines the operation of the pictograms in the car when an emergency call is.
The E&I panel, porter’s lodge and machine room modules are considered as call recipients
and callers.
The pictograms work according to the table below, S1 is the yellow pictogram output “alarm
has been activated”, S2 is the green pictogram output for “communication established with a
rescue service or similar (Porter / Fireman / maintenance people in the Machine Room / call
center).

S1 S2
Emergency call from the car ON OFF
Call reception by one of the intercom modules OFF ON
End of communication OFF OFF
Call to the car from one of the intercom modules OFF ON

6.8. Call filtering

A voltage of 0 to 24 VDC is applied to the filter input in NC mode.
0 VDC or no Voltage Ö THE ALARM CALL IS RELEASED.
24 VDC ÖTHE ALARM CALL IS BLOCKED (the pictograms remain OFF).

Note :
Car-fireman’s module (F_A 512 AC4) : Set DIP Switches 6 to enable the filter (see table
3.2).
Car module-REM (F_A 512 AC6) : the filter cannot be sets and is always enabled.

6.9. Volume
Turn the potentiometer and press the push-to-talk button (P.T.T.) to adjust the loudspeaker
volume.

6.10. Acoustic inductive loop amplifier

It is imperative to use the circuit "ISOL_AUDIO" in combination with the acoustic inductive
loop amplifier.
The acoustic inductive loop amplifier is active during a communication.

6.11. Reset
If an installation must be reset, it is necessary to cut the power for at least 20 seconds.
