Making models using wood. The purpose of the wood and stone carving class is to offer
students basic knowledge and understanding of the carving process, tools and materials
that are necessary to make sculpture; to make them familiar with the “sculptural idea”—
three-dimensional form, which makes sculpture different from the other forms of art-making;
to introduce issues such as: proportions, weight, mass, rhythm, among others. Special
attention is being paid to composition, spatial arrangement, balance, structure.
