ABSTRACT

Present work is based on the physico-chemical analysis of influents and effluents

released from BKSK Sugar industry of Mannaekhelli, Humnabad Taluka, Bidar Dist . It was
found that the industry consume huge amount of water and throw back almost an equal amount
of effluent containing waste material in solid and dissolved form. Effluent of Sugar factory
having mean pH of (7.5), temperature (24 ºC), BOD(5) (242 mg/l), COD (238 mg/l), Total solid
(55 mg/l), Total dissolved solid (24 mg/l), Total suspended solid (32 mg/l), Nitrate (20 mg/l),
Phosphate (7.2 mg/l) and Sulphate (24.9 mg/l). Conclusively it is quite unsafe for domestic and
agricultural purposes. Therefore, it should be recycled and utilize further for industrial purpose
only.
