Procedure for Transfer Ownership within state


Step 1 Purchase the ‘Transfer of Ownership within State’ File from the R&LA Sale Counter

Step 2 Read the instructions mentioned in the File/Forms carefully.

Step 3 Complete and attach all the required Forms/Documents as per the Checklist, And submit the file at STA
for document verification and approval from Secretary STA.

Step 4 Visit STA office on given date for confirmation of Approval or Objection (If any), after approval from
Secretary, STA then Deposit fees at the concerned counter and collect your Fee Receipt.

Step 5 Collect your Registration Certificate (RC) from the RC Distribution counter from the STA Office on
given date

What is the procedure for obtaining Fitness Certificate for Transport Vehicles and renewal
of Fitness Certificate?

Ans. All Transport Vehicles shall carry valid certificate to ply on road. The owner shall apply for issue
of fitness certificate in form KMV 20 along with prescribed fee, Registration Certificate,
Insurance Certificate, Tax Card, Pollution Under Control Certificate, Permit and Produce the
vehicle for Inspection in a good condition. Motor Vehicle Inspector will inspect the vehicle
particularly on following aspects:
i.Front axle and steering.
ii. Front spring,.
iii. Fuel system,
iv. Electric system
v. Engine performance.
vi. Silencer transmission,
vii. Rear springs,
viii. Tyres,
ix. Chassis frame
x. Body
xi. Brakes
xii. Compulsory equipments
xiii. Cleanliness
xiv.Any other observation or defects worth mentioning.

7. NCRB/ MOB Report from Police Headquarters, Sector 9, Chandigarh

8. Signature Identification of owner (Showing the signatures in driving licence/PAN card/Identity card or
specimen signatures attested by Gazetted Officer/Executive Magistrate alongwith latest photograph)

9. NOC/ Consent Letter from Financer (If applicable, in case vehicle is still financed)
