COMMENTS: (strengths, areas for growth, next steps):

Ms. Kasstan continued to progress well during the final weeks of her placement at Pope John Paul II Senior
Elementary School. She demonstrates dedication and concern for the well-being and educational needs of
her students. As a result, Ms. Kasstan developed positive relationships both in the classroom setting and
within our school community. She earned the respect of the students and of the staff. Independently, Ms.
Kasstan is able to organize both daily and weekly plans, based on a rotary system. She showed an in-depth
understanding of the subject matter. Ms. Kasstan modifies and makes accommodations to her lessons, when
necessary, to ensure that all students achieve success. The lesson plans that she developed continued to
indicate a thorough understanding of the curriculum and effective teaching strategies. Ms. Kasstan is
becoming more familiar with the concept of developing success criteria with students to clarify and ensure
understanding of the expectations. Classroom management is critical at the intermediate level and Ms.
Kasstan continued to grow and show improvement in this area throughout the course of her placement.
Continued exploration of classroom management strategies will continue to help her in this area. In the
gymnasium, while teaching Physical Education, Ms. Kasstan showed the ability to deal with a variety of acute
and sometimes unexpected situations that often take place in a dynamic and open environment such as this.
Ms. Kasstan always demonstrated respect for and professional conduct with students or other members of
the school community. Overall, Ms. Kasstan proved to be an exemplary teacher candidate. It was a pleasure
having her as a student teacher!
