End of Course Reflection

This year, I have grown as a writer, critical thinker and speaker. I look back to September

of 2016, the beginning of my Junior Year and I know I did not have the skills I have now.

In the beginning of my Senior Year I had to write my College Essay which is a personal

narrative. I decided to write about my experience in the United States for the first time and how

now I am able to write a whole paper in English. I believe that while I was writing my College

Essay I realized how much I have grown as a writer. I have been able to use words that are new

to me.

My first time doing a Critical Analysis was when we read the book The Stranger by

Albert Camus. The purpose of this book is for people to understand that sometimes there is no

purpose or meaning behind our actions. I remember that while we were reading this book we

were assigned to do Journals for each chapter. In the Journal we basically had to answer a few

questions related to the chapter and then we needed to pick a quote and analyze it. I have grown

in Critical Analysis because before my Senior Year I was not able to look for words in a quote or

sentence that had double meaning.

I struggled the most during Moth Story unit. A Moth Story is personal narrative similar to

College Essay but instead of writing a paper we have to perform it. I am very shy and scared of

public speaking. During class we started practicing in smaller groups just to be prepared to

present in front of the class. Tasche helped me build confidence to do it in front of the class

because before presenting my story I was really nervous. The minimum time was 3-4 min but it

turns out that I actually needed to use more time than was required because I was confident once

I started telling my story.
