Sketchbook

End of Course Reflection

My favorite thing I learned in Sketchbook was how each stencil that we used had its own

purpose. For example one stencil is only best used for shading. Also there are stencils mainly

used for drawing on metal only. The reason this makes my favorite thing in class is because it’s

mind blowing to think that there are different stencils used for different projects and designs and

not just solely based for paper.

One thing that I learned that I never knew before was how far back art and stencils were

made. Stencils were first introduced back in 105 AD by the chinese and they only made them for

paper-based at first. Then slightly overtime stenciling made a transition into the world of cloth

and such.

The most difficult thing I did in this class was trying to draw a certain object a set amount

of times starting at 1 minute, then to 50 seconds, so on and so forth. It really puts your mind to

the task, and test the speed in which how much you can get done in a short amount of time.
