1.0 Activity and Responsibility:

Activity of cable tray is intended to carry and hold the cables for electricals work. The concerned
Project Manager is responsible for the job which will be monitored and supervised for efficient &
effective completion by LWBS Engineer.

2.0 Inputs For Activity

a. Drawing & Adequate level instruments / IS codes / Technical specification.


b. Tools & machineries and necessary arrangements.
c. Cable tray , Anchor fasteners, Threaded rods and nut bolts.
d. PPE.

03.Flow of Activity

a. Marking to be done at ceiling & wall.


b. Install all the supports such as anchor fasteners, threaded rod, brackets and etc.,
c. Install the cable tray over the bracket. Tray earthing to be done and connect to main
earthing.
d. Joint of tray to be done with joining plates with proper nut & bolt.
e. Sharp edge to be removed in tray / Ladder.
f. Minimum clearance of 250mm will be maintained b/w top of tray & ceiling.
g. Install 45-degree bend for any turning of cable tray direction. Do no use 90-degree
bend. Factory fabricated cable trays.
h. Install proper connection joint for cable tray. Tighten connection joint and cable tray by
round-head screws and nuts. Ensure tightening of screws from inside of tray.
i. Earthing strip will be welded at interval of not less than 10 mtrs.
j. Coordination will be done with other services.
k. Lift the vertical(shaft) Tray using man power
l. Place the joined Tray with angle support inside the shaft at exact location as per the
drawing.
m. Fix the Angle support on to slab using Mechanical fasteners (Mechanical joint).
n. Support the elevated Tray at both side running on walls with proper Mechanical
fasteners (Mechanical joint).
o. Connect earth cable from end of tray to associative DB / switchboard / Panel.

4.0 Monitoring and checking :

a. Check the marking and supports as per the drawing.


b. Check the sizes of the cable tray as per drawing.
c. Check the tray’s colour / powder coating is matching with the requirement.
d. Ensure that the tray is covered by sticker to prevent it from dust.
e. Check the sharp edges are removed properly.
f. Check levels in drawing & at site before installation of cable tray, periodical level

checking during lifting and final level checking after lifting.


g. Check for straightness of the cable tray.
h. Ensure that all the bends are 45-degree only.
i. Check for all the joints are done properly.
j. Ensure that all the earthing are done as per standard.
k. Check the cable trays are cleaned properly as per standard methods.
l. Ensure that the sticker is removed before the false ceiling closing.
m. When check indicates non conformity, take suitable such as rework to ensure
correction of non-conformity. Post re work a re-inspection is done to confirm
effectiveness of correction.
n. Check all check results are captured in RFWI / IMIR.

5.0 Output of the Activity

a. Properly lifted & routed trays.


b. Cut pieces of cable tray, damaged bolts and nut, cut pieces of threaded rods.

6.0 Operational Control


a. PPE
i. Nose Mask (Dust Hazard)
ii. Ear Muff (Noise Hazard)
iii. Safety Shoes (Sharp Edge Hazard)
iv. Safety helmet
v. Safety jacket
vi. Barricading sign / boards

b. Controls for Environment: Proper collection & stacking of Cut pieces of cable tray,
damaged bolts and nut , cut pieces of threaded rods for safe disposal.
