Teaching Activities [ASSURE (Utilize Technology, Media, and Materials and Require Learner
Participation)]
To attract children’s attention, teacher comes to class with a chameleon puppet and s/he says that
“Hey kids! Today there is a guest for you! Let’s meet.” Then the chameleon meets the children and
wants them to guess it. Teacher listens each child’s guess and then if children do not guess the
puppet say that it is a chameleon. Then the puppet says that “Today I came here to give some
information about my family. Then teacher opens the video which was created in animato and the
puppet reads the book. After finishing the reading, teacher makes a short assessment about the
story. Assessment;
Descriptive Question;
 What was the animals that chameleon wants to be like?
Affective Question;
 How could the chameleon feel at the end of the book when he wanted to go back to his former
state?
After short assessment, the puppet says that “Kids, I prepare you a game related with chameleons,
and help them to find their colors. Let’s play!” Teacher prepares envelopes according to number of
children including 1 chameleon made of transparent paper and 1 colorful paper and puts them
under the table for each child. S/he also hangs colorful fancy papers according to number of
children to wall to enable children to match colors. After the nursery rhyme, children look under the
table and find the envelopes that includes one chameleon made of transparent paper and one
colorful paper for each child. Then, teacher says “lets help the chameleon to find its colors
immediately. Now, each of us will paste their chameleon on the same color with inside of their
envelopes.” Then, teacher gives enough time to find and match the colors and paste the
chameleon. Then, to gather children teacher starts to say another nursery rhyme. That is;
“Bulduysan eğer rengini
Geçmen lazım hemen yerine
Diğer oyun başlıyor
Hazır mısın oyuna?”
Then teacher gives children enough time to sit their place. Then, teacher says the nursery rhyme
again. That is;
“Haydi sor yanındakine
Hangi rengi varmış elinde
Değiştir rengini onunla
Hazır ol diğer oyuna!”
Then teacher says, “Wait a minute! chameleon's head is mixed up again! it wants to go back to its
colorless condition, let's get the new color in your hand and get back our chameleons” Then, it is
given enough time to match the colors and get back to chameleons. After all chameleons is get
back, teacher starts to ask assessment questions to evaluate the process. (During the game
process, assistant teacher takes photos of children to make documentation.)

Individual Learning Activities -

Group Learning Activities  Listening to story together

 Playing a game which is a matching game.
Children need to match chameleons
according to their color.

Summary
Teacher reads a book which name is Kafası Karışık Bukalemun and to show the pictures of the
book, she creates a video by using animoto.
Measurement & Evaluation
Descriptive Questions
How else can we play the chameleon game?
Affective Questions
If you did not have an exciting life like a chameleon, which animal you wanted to be?
What feelings the chameleon had during the book?
What chameleon might have felt as it turned into other animals?
Objective – Oriented Questions
Why the chameleon changes its color from environment to environment?
What kind of difficulties have you experienced while you were matching the colors to put the
chameleon?
Daily Life Questions
Have you experienced that the chameleon’s color changes before?
Do we have the same materials that we can match in our classroom?
Measurement & Assessment Activities for Each child draws a picture related to activity after
Individual Performance assessment part.
Measurement & Assessment Activities for Children make a drama about chameleon and with
Group Performance this way teacher can make assessment what
children have learned.
Homework (optional) Today, we made an activity called “Bukalemun Ne
İstiyor?” In this activity, first, we read a book called
“Kafası Karışık Bukalemun” Then, we made a short
talk about color changes of chameleon. Then, we
made a math activity. As you all know, parent
involvement is highly crucial in our field to support
children’s deep understanding. As a parent, you can
also talk about color changes of chameleon. For
example, you can ask your child “what color would it
be if the chameleon was on the dining table? That
would be good for understanding the color changes.
Besides, for the math activity, you can play a game
that you can ask your child to match kitchen staffs
according to their shape. If you form a checklist
about those matchings and send me, I would
appreciate. After that, we can check the list and try
to improve their matching skills.
Explanation
While asking questions, teacher should listen the answers of children carefully to give feedbacks
and prevent misconceptions.
Explanation regarding to the implementation of the plan
Teacher may take copies of the animoto created on the website before coming to the classroom in
case of problems which may occur with the website.
