INTRODUCTION: Tuberculosis is a disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, a bacterium
that almost always affects the lungs. It is curable and preventable. This disease is transmitted from person to person through the air. Over a year, a tubercular patient can infect 10 to 15 people through close contact. If they do not receive the appropriate treatment, up to two thirds of the tubercular patients die. OBJECTIVES: To identify the level of knowledge and advances in tuberculosis control in the population of the José Leonardo Ortiz district with a high incidence in 2015. RESULTS: After applying surveys to 383 people, the knowledge level of tuberculosis was high in 8 participants (2.1%), medium in 121 participants (31.6%) and low in 254 participants (66.3%), 143 participants (37.3%) were between 21 and 30 years old, 121 participants (31.6%) had incomplete secondary education. Conclusion. More than 90% of our study population in the José Leonardo Ortiz district has a low and medium level of knowledge about tuberculosis. DEVELOPMENT: This article develops the epidemiological situation of TB in the district of Jose Leonardo Ortiz in 2015, the advances in its control, according to three approaches: biomedical, public management and social determinants of health. CONCLUSION: During the years 2011 to 2015, important advances have been achieved in the control of TB in Peru and José Leonardo Ortiz, with a sustained reduction in the incidence of TB and with a greater commitment of the State reflected in Law 30287 and its Regulation.
INTRODUCCIÓN: La tuberculosis es una enfermedad causada por Mycobacterium tuberculosis,
una bacteria que casi siempre afecta a los pulmones. Es curable y prevenible. Esta enfermedad se transmite de persona a persona a través del aire. A lo largo de un año, un enfermo tuberculoso puede infectar a unas 10 a 15 personas por contacto estrecho. Si no reciben el tratamiento adecuado, hasta dos terceras partes de los enfermos tuberculosos mueren. OBJETIVOS: Identificar el nivel de conocimientos y avances en el control sobre tuberculosis en la población del distrito de José Leonardo Ortiz con alta incidencia en el año 2015. RESULTADOS: Después de aplicar encuestas a 383 personas, el nivel de conocimientos de tuberculosis fue alto en 8 participantes (2,1%), medio en 121 participantes (31,6%) y bajo en 254 participantes (66,3%), 143 participantes (37,3%) tenían de 21 a 30 años, 121 participantes (31,6%) tuvieron secundaria incompleta. Conclusión. Más del 90% de nuestra población de estudio en el distrito de José Leonardo Ortiz tiene nivel bajo y medio de conocimientos sobre tuberculosis. DESARROLLO: En el presente artículo se desarrolla la situación epidemiológica de la TB en el distrito de José Leonardo Ortiz al 2015, los avances en su control, de acuerdo a tres enfoques: biomédico, de gestión pública y de determinantes sociales de la salud. CONCLUSIÓN: Durante los años 2011 a 2015 se han logrado importantes avances en el control de la TB en el Perú y José Leonardo Ortiz, con una sostenida reducción de la incidencia de TB y con un mayor compromiso del Estado reflejadas en la Ley 30287 y su Reglamento.
