1.0 PURPOSE

The purpose of this “Waste Management Procedure” is to provide a practical framework to


ensure:

1 All Wastes are properly disposed as per EPA guidelines.


2 Identifying and understanding the type of Wastes i.e. hazardous, non-hazardous etc.
3 Proper housekeeping is maintained.
4 Strict compliances of Environmental Management System (EMS).

2.0 SCOPE

The scope of this procedure covers the following:

1 This procedure is applicable to all activities in which ALMEN employees are involved
irrespective of the sites/locations.
2 All subcontractors working for ALMEN or on behalf of ALMEN.

3.0 WASTE

The Waste Generated due to ALMEN activities in various site / location are placed into two
categories Hazardous Waste and Non-Hazardous Waste.

Hazardous Wastes: means any wastes posing potential direct hazards to man or animal’s health
or the environment in general, resulting from industrial, commercial and agricultural activities and
from the household wastes

Non-Hazardous Wastes: Non hazardous waste is all chemicals that do not display hazardous
characteristics such as flammability, corrosiveness, reactivity etc.

Storage & Handling of Wastes:

1) A suitable location shall be identified at ALMEN site yard for temporary storage of wastes.
2) Scrap to be segregated and must be stored in the designated locations / bins.
3) Materials should be classified according to their nature.
4) Inventory Register shall be maintained about the quantity of wastes disposed.
5) All Hazardous and non hazardous wastes shall be disposed as per EPA guidelines.

4.0 DISPOSAL OF WASTES

5.0 DOCUMENTATION:

‘’Waste transportation manifest form’’ should be duly filled in specified format of respective client
before disposal of wastes, and the copies to be distributed as per instructions. The ‘’waste
disposal manifest form’’ that is issued from EPA approved disposal center to be sent to Safety
Manager and the copy of the same shall be submitted to client safety department for evidence that
wastes are disposed in approved disposal center.
