Project -- Cognos: Requirement doc

Project is for company BDCS XYZ ltd. They have various sets of users with different reporting
needs.
User Information
Management Users -- CEO / CFO / Country Heads (High level Dashboards)
Supervisors: City Head, Product Head (Detail Reports)

Generic: All reports should have proper formatting (Header -- title / Font color / data format)
In Summary, our project will have the following reports :
(CFO-1)
(Country Heads -2)
(Child Report-Country Heads -2)
(Country Heads -3)
(Child Report-Country Heads -3)
(Country Heads -4)
(Child Report-Country Heads -4)
(Supervisor - 5)
(Supervisor - 6)

1- (CFO-1)
For CFO: create a dashboard with 6 different views.
Bring a table with 3 Columns * 2 rows.
Add 5 charts(Pie / Bar Chart / Area / Progressive / Line) in the first set of cells and 1 Crosstab in
the last cell.
They are interested to see Country / Product Category Level and Year level details. (Sales
Amount and Sales Quantity)

Create a prompt page with 3 different Multiselect & Optional Prompts


Country / year / Product category
Make the dashboard interactive by copying the prompts from prompt page to the report page.
Make it single select and auto-submit.

2- (Country Heads -2)


For Country Heads, Create a report with Country / City / Year / Sales Amount / Sales Quantity
Prompt page: create country and city prompt with cascade.
Also, create a drill through link on City to another report (Child Report-Country Heads -2)
Prompt on city --> Country / City / Customer Name / Product Cate/ Product Type / Sales
Amount(SA) / Sales Quantity

3- For Country Heads (Country Heads -3)


Create a table with 2 columns and 1 row
in the first column drag a list and in the second column drag a crosstab.
Inside the list report drag aand drop Chart to create master detail.

List --> Product Category / Sales Amount (Chart will have Product
Category / Year / SA)
Create master detail relationships.
Crosstab will have Product Cateory / PRoduct Type on the rows and the
Year, Qtr on the columns.
SA as the measure.

Create a drill through from list report --> Product Category column to
a child report (Child Report-Country Heads -3) Create prompt on Product Category in the
child report to create drill through.

4- For Country Heads (Country Heads -4)


Create a table with 2 columns and 1 row
in the first column drag a list and in the second column drag a crosstab.
Inside the list report drag aand drop Chart to create master detail.

List --> Country / Sales Amount (Chart will have Country / Year / SA)
Create master detail relationships.
Crosstab will have Country / City on the rows and the Year, Qtr on the columns.
SA as the measure.

Create a conditional formating on the list:


Display the IN --> Blue Font Color
US --> Red Font COlor
UK--> Purple font color

Create a prompt page with Country and city cascade


Also create a prompt with year. PLease note that there should only be one prompt page.

Create a drill through from list report --> Country column to a child report (Child Report-Country
Heads -4) Create prompt on Country in the child report to create drill through.

5- (Supervisor - 5)
Create a report for City heads with following
Country / City / Customer Name / Year / Qtr / Month / Sales Amount /
Sales Quantity

Create cascade prompt on Year / Qtr / Month . 2 links: Qtr to be


cascaded with Year.
And month to be cascaded with Qtr.
Create conditional formatting on Sales Amount > 8 (boolean)
ALso, create a new prompt page .. create cascade prompt for Country /
City / Customer Name
Please note that this report will have two prompt pages

6- (Supervisor - 6)
Create a report for Product heads with following
Product Category / Product Type / Product Name / Year / Qtr / Month /
Sales Amount / Sales Quantity

Create cascade prompt on Year / Qtr / Month . 2 links: Qtr to be


cascaded with Year.
And month to be cascaded with Qtr.
Create conditional formatting on Sales Amount > 8 (boolean)

ALso, create a new prompt page .. create cascade prompt for Product
Cateory / Product Type / Product Name
PLease note that this report will have two prompt pages
