5 Major Components of the Solar System are:

1. Sun
The sun lies at the heart of the solar system, where it is by far the largest object. It holds 99.8 percent of the solar
system's mass and is roughly 109 times the diameter of the Earth — about one million Earths could fit inside the
sun. The visible part of the sun is about 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit (5,500 degrees Celsius), while temperatures in
the core reach more than 27 million F (15 million C), driven by nuclear reactions. One would need to explode 100
billion tons of dynamite every second to match the energy produced by the sun, according to NASA.

2. Jupiter
Jupiter's orbit lies beyond the asteroid belt at a mean distance of 483.6 million mi (778.3 million km) from the sun;
its period of revolution is 11.86 years. In order from the sun it is the first of the Jovian planets—
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune—very large, massive planets of relatively low density, having rapid rotation
and a thick, opaque atmosphere. Jupiter has a diameter of 88,815 mi (142,984 km), more than 11 times that of the
earth. Its mass is 318 times that of the earth and about 21/2 times the mass of all other planets combined.

3. Earth
Earth, our home, is the third planet from the sun. It is the only planet known to have an atmosphere containing
free oxygen, oceans of liquid water on its surface, and, of course, life. Some statistics about Earth, according
to NASA:
 Average distance from the sun: 92,956,050 miles (149,598,262 km)
 Perihelion (closest approach to the sun): 91,402,640 miles (147,098,291 km)
 Aphelion (farthest distance from the sun): 94,509,460 miles (152,098,233 km)
 Length of solar day (single rotation on its axis): 23.934 hours
 Length of year (single revolution around the sun): 365.26 days
 Equatorial inclination to orbit: 23.4393 degrees.Source

4. Asteroid belt
The asteroid belt is the circumstellar disc in the Solar System located roughly between the orbits of
the planets Mars and Jupiter. It is occupied by numerous irregularly shaped bodies called asteroids or minor
planets. asteroids.About half the mass of the belt is contained in the four largest asteroids: Ceres, Vesta, Pallas,
and Hygiea. The total mass of the asteroid belt is approximately 4% that of the Moon, or 22% that of Pluto, and
roughly twice that of Pluto's moon Charon (whose diameter is 1200 km).

5. Oort cloud:
The Oort Cloud – a hypothetical spherical Solar System that is the source of long-period comets. Instrumental
existence of the Oort cloud is not confirmed, but many indirect evidence points to its existence. Expected distance
to the outer limits of the Oort cloud from the sun is between 50 000 and 100 000 a. is, – a light year. The Oort
Cloud is thought to include two separate areas: a spherical outer Oort cloud and the inner Oort cloud in the shape
of a disc. Objects in the Oort cloud is largely composed of water, ammonia and methane ices.
