Any day missed must be made up (including Public Holidays). Make up days must be finalised no later than one week after the
assessable block placement. An Assessable Day/Block is a day/block for which a Pre-service Teacher is assessed and a Supervising
Teacher is paid for supervision.
A Contextual Day/Block is a day/block the Pre-service Teacher spends in the classroom viewing and observing teaching practice and student
learning. The Supervising Teacher is not required to formally assess the pre-service Teacher’s progress during these days. Student Free Days
(SFDs) are optional at the discretion of the Site Coordinator/Supervising Teacher only. Unless otherwise directed by staff at the site, Pre-
service Teachers are expected to attend scheduled student free days.
It is possible that the timing of the individual placement days (i.e. the day of the week) may be negotiated between the Supervising Teacher and
Pre-service Teacher. Consideration should be given to maximising the Pre-service Teacher’s opportunities for observation, engagement and
professional learning at the site when any changes to a scheduled day are made.
