The Mission of the Month for September is Ministries in
Africa. The missionaries that we support in Africa
include Joanna Beske in Senegal with Pioneers, The
Newell family in Nairobi, Kenya and Denise Hoover who is
in Chad. Please keep all of these ministries in your prayers.
If you are interested in writing to one of our missionaries
please let a member of the Mission Team know and we will
give you their contact information.
Join us for a prayer time every Sunday morning in the youth
lounge before church at 9:20am. We pray for what will
happen in our worship and ask the Lord to send his Holy
Spirit upon us. Please join us in praying for revival and
renewal in our lives, our church and our land.
There are 8 assisted listening devices available for people to
better hear the worship service. They are located in a
basket in the narthex. Please return the devices to the
basket at the conclusion of worship. If you look for a device
and they are all taken please let the office know. We want to
have enough available for everyone who needs one. CD
copies of our worship service are available every Sunday in
the narthex.

The Annual Memorial Service in the Old Church will be held
today beginning at 2 pm with the Salem American Legion
Band. Worship begins at 2:30 pm. Rev. Don Polk from Aldine
United Methodist Church will be our guest speaker.

The annual hayride will be held on October 17 , 12 noon at

the Williams’ farm. Join us for fellowship, lunch and a
bonfire! Stay tuned for a sign up sheet.
“Trunk or Treat” Hallelujah Party- Join us on Friday
evening, October 29th from 6-8 pm for our first annual
“trunk or treat”. Bring your children and their friends in
costume (nothing scary please) to walk around and get
“treats” from the trunks/beds of vehicles that will be lined
around the parking lot. We will have hot dogs, crafts and
pumpkin painting! If you could donate your time or would like
to participate please see Joe Pizzuto-Pomaco.
A Congregational Meeting will be held after worship on
November 7th for the purpose of discussing our finances.

Disciple's Pantry in Woodstown is in need of boxed items
such as cereals, pasta, mac-n-cheese, & rice. They want
anything available in a can: vegetables, fruit, baby food,
spaghetti sauce, soups, tuna, pork & beans, canned meat such
as Spam, Turkey, Stew, etc. Peanut butter & jelly is also
needed as well as toilet paper. Dried milk is welcome but
must be in “individual” serving sizes to make distribution
easier and more equal. It has come to our attention that
there is an increased need in Woodstown and that the
pantry has depleted reserves. If you can help, feel free to
give directly to the pantry or leave your contribution in the
box marked in the narthex and we will make sure it gets
there. Thank You to those who have already generously
contributed money. With your donations, the Pantry was
able to purchase food items for distribution this past week.
The flowers this morning are given in honor of Peg Layman’s
90th birthday by her family. Happy Birthday Peg!
We received a very nice thank you note from one of the
families in Hurricane, WV. It reads:

Thanks so much for the beautiful quilt rack.
I have the prayer shawl and pictures on it!

than you’ll ever know!

The card is on the bulletin board outside of the nursery.
The Trustees anticipate making repairs to the porch on the
manse soon. Concerns have also been expressed about the
deteriorating condition of the hedge row along the front
walkway. Suggestions include trimming them back, which
may remove the green bush and leave only the stems, to
removal. The Trustees seek input from the congregation as
they move forward. Please address your thoughts to any
Trustee.
There will be Children’s Church today and through out
the Fall. Please pray and consider whether you can help
out. Contact Tricia Barrett (609-364-7822) or Colleen
Moore (769-4279) or you can sign up in the narthex
TODAY.
Substitute teachers for Sunday School are needed for
the Fall. Please let the office know if you would be willing
to have your name placed on a substitute list.
The rosebud at the front of the church last week was in
honor of the birth of Andrew Dallas Skinner. “Drew” was
born on September 17th and is the son of Mark and Diane
Skinner, grandson of Dallas and Anne Skinner.
Bible Reading Challenge
Between now and the beginning of Advent (November 28th)
everyone is encouraged to read their Bibles and pray for at
least 5-10 minutes a day, including children. At the Birthday
Party for Jesus (December 5th) prizes will be given out for
regular readers and the Sunday School class with the
average highest reading will receive a super, duper ice cream
party (your choice of flavors and toppings). Come on adults
don't let the kids show you up! There will be Bible reading
logs in the narthex.
Remember when reading your Bible to not just use the "open
and point" method, where you randomly read whatever is in
front of you. Instead take the time to decide what book you
want to read through -a gospel, a letter of Paul, an OT
narrative like Genesis and read through a little every night
or morning (whatever time of day works best for you).
Before beginning ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand
what you read, be sure to write down what questions you
have and after you are finished spend some time asking the
Lord in prayer what he wanted you to learn.
Reading the Bible daily is an important part of our walk with
the Lord. Families are encouraged to read the Bible
together and to have fun doing it!
