Background
❖ Great Library Of Alexandria in Egypt formed by King Ptolemy around 300 BCE

❖ Originally, libraries were not what they are today, instead they were full of leather bound pages, and

information was kept in scrolls.

❖ Pachomius established a monastery, and insisted literacy among his monks. Now, when Christianity

spread, monasteries, and libraries within them spread as well

So, what’s the problem?
Libraries are losing popularity, fast.

Libraries can continue to be a place of learning if If participants do not go to libraries, then they

How to find a book using the Dewey Decimal System
For Example, a book with the Dewey Decimal Number of 135.56 JAC

1. Go the 100 section


2. Find 135
3. Then look for the 135.5’s
4. Then continue going left to find 135.56
5. Then, in the 135.56, the books are alphabetical, if there is more than one.
6. Find the J’s, 135.56 JAC will be in there
