FALL 2018
Special Education Generalist (K - 12)

I am excited to be considered for a teaching position at your school! I appreciate your consideration and
hope to meet with you soon.

I have gained experience throughout my education at Brigham Young University - Idaho via practicums.
I have developed excellent rapport with students, though I only have the opportunity to work with them
for short periods of time. I believe that it is important to get to know your students so that you can better
teach them and and find what it is that drives them to learn, what captures their interests.

Throughout my practicum experiences, I have learned to stick to a very strict schedule. It is important to
use the small allotment of time with the students to best of our abilities. Though each day varies student
to student and what their day is like, it is important to keep on task and to help them learn and grow a
little bit more each day. Some days are frustrating for the student, but it is important to have a positive
attitude and to help them to the best of my abilities.

I have spent a lot of time preparing lessons for each of my students and groups of students that I believed
would best help them to learn and to grow. I believe that preparation is very important and gives us the
opportunity to be more creative with our students to help them learn in a differentiated manner. Through
working with students at Hawthorne Elementary School in Idaho Falls, I was able to see how to integrate
a scripted lesson with activities that built their confidence and their interest in both math and English.
This would not have been possible without thorough preparation.

My past teaching experiences and education have prepared me to work as a special education teacher in
any position from kindergarten through twelfth grade. I am excited to gain more experience to better
prepare myself to become a full-time teacher. Thank you for your consideration.
