DCEMA STORM RECOVERY UPDATE- As of 01-24-2017 4:00 PM EST


Information pertaining to the January 22 Storm. Dougherty County, Albany, GA

NEW DEVELOPMENTS
 The Governor's office confirmed that while the Governor has applied for the FEMA
funding for the January 2 storm, we have not yet received approval. We will update
you on this matter as it progresses.
 The Dougherty County School System will be closed on Wednesday, January 25, 2017

RESCUE AND RECOVERY


 GEMA personnel are now on the ground organizing and coordinating all search and rescue
efforts
 Currently in active search and rescue
 1 confirmed missing child, 2 year old male, Detrez Green
 4 confirmed fatalities
 5 confirmed rescues from homes; all were transported to local hospital
 30 confirmed injured; all transported to local hospital
 198 confirmed displaced, currently in local shelters
 There are 3 Georgia Search and Rescue teams working all disaster areas
 200+ people on the ground assisting with search and rescue

LAW ENFORCEMENT
 Continues their search and rescue efforts
 Monitoring traffic so that power lines can be restored
 Patrolling neighborhoods to deter criminal activity

PROPERTY DAMAGE
 For all citizens who have sustained damage to property in the January 22, 2017 storm,
including private homeowners and renters, should contact FEMA to report damage and for
recovery information at 1-800-621-FEMA(3362).
 Major Industry impact: Damages to Cooper Tire building, P&G warehouse, Marine Corps
Logistics Base, Coats and Clark Distribution Center, Georgia State Patrol Post

STORM DISASTER TEAM


 There are a tremendous amount of state resources working jointly on storm disaster relief
efforts, including GEMA, Dougherty Law Enforcement, Albany Police Department, Georgia
Department of Transportation, Georgia Forestry Department and Georgia Search and
Rescue

EMERGENCY RELIEF RESOURCES


 Emergency Storm Relief and Volunteer Assistance- Call the Emergency Operations Center
at 229-483-6226, 229-483-6227, 229-483-6228
 Missing Persons Reporting- 229-483-6201, 229-483-6203 or 911
 Medical triage has been set up at New Birth Fellowship Church, 2106 Radium Springs Rd.,
8 am to 6 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Health Department will also administer
tetanus shots at this location. This resource is provided for those who have been impacted
by the recent storm.
 The American Red Cross has opened a 24 hour emergency shelter at the Albany Civic Center.
People who need disaster relief assistance from the American Red Cross can call 229-436-
4845 or 1-855-891-7325. For those who wish to donate prepackaged in kind items such as
pillows, blankets, food, water the American Red Cross is ready to receive donations at the
Albany Civic Center.

 People who need counseling or prayer can visit the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team at
925 Pine Ave. or call 704-401-2483.
 The Albany Area YMCA is offering free hot showers to anyone in the community impacted by
the storm during regular business hours. M-Th 5 AM-9:30PM, F5AM-9PM, Sat. 7:30AM-6PM,
Sun. 2PM-6PM. Please bring a towel. Toiletries are available.

 The Dougherty County Emergency Management Agency has created Facebook and Twitter pages
to provide important updates, weather alerts, storm preparation tips and disaster relief resources
to inform Dougherty County residents. Both pages can be accessed @DoCoEMA or by searching
