My excerpt is my first hand account of someone whom I know very closely.

This person was a Cancer Ascendent. So Shani was lord of the 7th & the 8th in Last Asked Feb 1

the 1st house. Shani becomes a functional Benefic because it owns a Kendra (7th Edits

house). But Saturn was also the lord of the 8th, a dusthana.

Just before the Shani bhukti ended, the spouse passed away, 5 years later she
lost her 34 year old 2nd son to natural causes (Shukra Bhukti) and 4 years from
that she passed away at the age of 65 (Moon Bhukti) after a brief 2 month illness.

I don’t wish to scare anyone, but this is absolute reality and nothing but that.
But good news is that this is one of the cases where Saturn was really really
tough because of its 8th house lordship.

IN GENERAL

Saturn, will remove everything that’s a distraction in you life. It will push you to
become responsible, self sufficient & self relent. It will make you a SURVIVOR
who will sustain on basic resources even though you would not have dearth of
any.

For any give chart, Shani Mahadasha period is for 19 years. It is ,virtually, about
25 % of ones life span. If the native suffers from good or bad results during this
entire period of 19 years, then what the antardasha period of other 6 planets, of
shorter periods, will be doing ? Do they have no role to play ?. What about
Pratyantar dasha and it’s planets which are even of shorter than antardasha
period ? Is it so that all these Antardasha and pratyantardasha planets become
defunct for the entire 19 years ? Saying Shani Mahadasha will give good or bad
results for entire 19 years is not astrologically and even logically correct.
Mahadasha of any planet sets the trends of events/results for the mahadasha
period as per it’s status in natal chart. It is the antardasha planet that actually
gives the results as per it’s status in the chart. The Antardasha planets for Shani
Mahadasha will be of Shani, Mercury, Ketu, Venus, Sun, Moon, Mangal, Rahu
and Jupiter. The Antardash of these planets range between 1 to 2 to 3 years. Can
it be said all the 6 planets, apart from shani, are bound to give good or bad

results in tune with Shani Mahadasha ? Highly improbable. The antardasha

planets will rule the antardasha period in giving actual results.

We have to remember another very important factor. Gochar or Transit of

planets. Transit planets take preference over antardasha planets in giving
results. Transit planets are like igniters of landmines. They transit on a house
and the planets in it and the house and planets get ignited and explode with
results pertaining to their significations, of houses they are placed in, of the
planets they are conjunct with, of the house and planets aspected by the transit
planet and the MTS of the transiting planet. Such results are obviously
multifaceted.

The results of the Mahadasha, Antardasha and of Transit are to be assessed and
and synthesized very carefully. . Then only the correct results can be predicted.
It will be highly generic to say Shani mahadasha or of any other planets will be
good or bad solely on it’s characteristics will not suffice.

Saturn Mahadasha irrespective of what houses it rules in a person’s chart it is

bound to bring in an increase the amount of efforts and initiatives one has to put
in life.

Now, if Saturn rules good houses in someone’s chart then there will be positive
results that the native will enjoy for all the extra efforts. On the other hand if it
rules so called bad houses( or involved in bad combinations) then there will
disappointments. But the increase in efforts and the need to put those extra
hours will be there regardless of Saturn being good or bad.

For instance, in many cases when saturn was ruling the 10th house and it was
not involved in bad yogas it brought significant increase in responsibilities in
career in the form of promotion which also meant an increase in income.
Disclaimer - Saturn needs to be well placed in the chart for this to happen. If it is
badly placed like in an unfriendly sign then it will bring lots of challenges in
career.

One more thing important to point out is that even in cases when it is placed in
the sign of an enemy but let us say it is conjunct with a friend like Venus then

also it will give good results- provided it is ruling good houses in the chart. I
have seen this in the case of my own brother and he has had three promotions
since the beginning of his Saturn Mahadasha though he has had to put a lot of
efforts since the Mahadasha started.

Saturn mahadahsa if beneficial can also bring in good results in areas of life
where things have been stuck for a long time, a bad Saturn dasha on the other
hand will delay things for a long time.

Saturn also makes one focus on areas of life where one has not been giving much
attention. For instance , sometimes in Jupiter dasha one can develop bad eating
habits and so when Saturn dasha comes there may be health issues which makes
one take care of their body. Of course Saturn should be associated with 6th
house/6th Lord, 1st house/1st Lord for this to happen.

The detailed description of how any mahadahsa will pan out depends on an
individual’s horoscope but one can try and have some idea looking at their own
horoscopes and identifying what houses saturn rules and where it is placed to
know what kind of results it will give.

So, if you worked hard in previous dasas, you will get good results/benefits,
provided relevant planetary placements are favorable.

Say, if you have neglected health earlier, Saturn will give you joint aches, teeth
problems, hair fall etc.

Saturn generally limits or restricts. So you will limit yourself with meaningful
friends, focus on career/profession, be disciplined/mature, spending wisely

Hi,

There are many myths regarding Saturn and its effects.

Saturn isn’t about destruction of life but it always gives the result of your own
karma and takes you to the path for which you have taken birth on the planet
and as he does it very directly we think that Saurn destructs all but in real ,

Irrespective of good or bad house Saturn ensures full rewards for one’s efforts
and hard work. For example if a student put efforts for getting 80/100 marks
then Saturn will ensure s/he gets 80/100 not less than 80 and not more than 80.
