 Discussed strategies from the book provided to Mr. Boyd , Discipline with Dignity. Mr. Boyd shared what he

 Mr. Boyd shared a recent experience with a student who was displaying inappropriate behavior. He expressed

speak with the student independently, and lastly calling the office to have the student removed. Mr. Boyd
expressed that he remained calm during the experience and did not elevate the situation by raising his voice.
 Mr. Boyd expressed his desire to implement school-wide PBIS practices as a method for motivating students in
his class both academically and behaviorally.

the discipline flowchart. We reflected on Mr. Boyd’s student interactions and uncovered that triggers tend to
be when students are given a direction multiple times and refuse to follow the direction. Mr. Boyd stated that
he has worked on keeping calm when these incidences occur and that prevention, using the PBIS protocol is
key to success.
