Locomotor Movements - These are movements where the body travels through space from
one location to another. Locomotor movements primarity use the feet for support however,
the body can travel on other parts such as the hands and feet.

do not cause the body to travel to another space.

Introductory Activity C. Awareness:
•Teacher shows picture about locomotor and non-locomotor movements.
•Teacher asks questions:

Ask:
1. What have you observed on the pictures?
2. Do you see its differences? What are their differences?

•Ask representative of the class to name each picture.


Presentation • Divide the class into four groups.
• Each group will be given a task card containing different locomotor and non-

• They are given 5 minutes to interpret and perform what is in the task card.
• After 5 minutes, group presentation will follow.

Group 1:
Instruction: Do the following non-locomotor skills
 Swing arms from side to side
 Bend and stretch your arms.

Group 2: Do the following non-locomotor skills

 Twist your body to the right and left


 Pull and push a partner

Group 3: Do the following locomotor skills

 Walk and run with a partner in the general space

Group 4: Do the following locomotor skills

 Hop and gallop to any direction.


 How was the activity?
Analysis  For group 1 and 2, what did you notice in your movements?
 Group 3 and 4, is there any differences between your movements and the
movements of group 1 and 2?

 What are the locomotor skills?


Abstraction  How about non-locomotor skills?
 Can non-locomotor and locomotor skills be used in our daily activities? How?
 How can we integrate these movements/skills in dancing? Especially on
festival dances?
Practice  Using the same group, let the learners create at least five dance combination
steps using locomotor and non-locomotor movements for festival dance
Application presentation.
 They are given 5 minutes to practice their steps.
 Let each group perform the festival dance in front for 2 minutes.

Assessment Instruction: In a 1 whole sheet of paper, write your own understanding about
locomotor and non-locomotor skills (equivalent to 10 points).
