Catholicism isn’t on trial here. I want you to deal with 
Agnes without any religious prejudice or you turn this case
over to somebody else.

No estamos juzgando el catolicismo. Quiero que se ocupe de 
Agnes sin ningún prejuicio religioso o sino que le pase el 
caso a otra persona.

How dare you think I’m in a position to be pressured or 
questioned or whatever it is you are doing.

cuestionarme o sea lo que sea que está haciendo?

MADRE SUPERIORA
I’m only requesting that whatever you’re doing…

Who the hell do you think you are? You do around here 
expecting applause for the way you’ve treated this child?

¿Quién coño se cree que es? ¿Espera que la aplaudan por 
cómo a tratado a esta niña?

MADRE SUPERIORA
She is not a child.

DOCTORA
She has a right to know there’s a World out there filled 
with people who don’t believe in God and not any worse off 
than you Mother. People who have gone through ttheir entire
lives not bending their knee once to anybody, and people 
who fall in love and have babies and occasionally are very 
happy. She has a right to know that. But you and your Order
and your church of ignorance, because ignorance is next to 
virginity, right Mother? Poverty, chastity and ignorance 
are what you live by.

Tiene derecho a saber que allá fuera existe un mundo lleno 
de gente que no cree en Dios y no son peores que usted 
Madre. Gente que se ha pasado su vida sin ponerse de 
rodillas ante nadie, y gente que se enamora y tiene niños y
en de vez en cuando son felices. Tiene derecho a saberlo. 
Pero usted y su Orden y su iglesia ignorante… porque la 
ignorancia está muy cerca de la virginidad, ¿no es así 
Madre? Pobreza, castidad e ignorancia es lo que rige su 
vida.

daughters, I even have grand­children, surprised? It might 
please you to know that I was a failure as a wife and 
mother. My children won’t even see me anymore. That’s their
revenge. I think they tell their friends that I’ve passed

Dr. Freud.

No soy virgen, Doctora. Estuve casada durante 23 años, dos 
hijas, tengo hasta nietos, ¿le sorprende? Le gustará saber 
que como esposa y madre fui un fracaso. Mis hijos no

The 23  of January. On that night one of our elder nuns 
passed way. I don’t remember where Agnes was but I was 
needed in the sick room.

El 23 de enero. Esa noche una de nuestras monjas más viejas
