Statement of Purpose

Global connectivity not only has resulted in new opportunities but also taken competition to the next
level. To achieve success, it is imperative to stand out from the crowd which requires specialised
skills. My immediate goal is to acquaint myself with the skills and knowledge in the field of banking
and finance. Gaining expertise will help me contribute towards the growth of my organisation which
would help me grow and ultimately making me capable to give back to the society. The Master of
Banking and Finance program from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia, will help me developing
the requisite skills to achieve the above goals. Having studied Financial Management at under-
graduate level, I have developed a strong foundation of management concepts and skills.

My father is an advisor for insurance and mutual funds. Inspired from his passion, to excel in the
field of your choice, I developed my interest in Finance. Even during my graduation, I was learning
and updating myself with skills relevant in this field via course like NCFM (NSE regulated) and CCRA.
My passion for finance has led to my need to get acquainted with the global scenario and the above
course will play a crucial role in the same. I have interned for 9 months at Kiran Mehta and Co., a CA
firm. During this period I have assisted my seniors in computing and filing of Income Tax as well as
TDS returns and have done stock audit of clients.

In the present scenario, students plan to pursue Master’s / Post Graduation / PhD. abroad to get a
help of the international scenario. Countries like USA, UK, Australia, Canada, etc are leading in the
overseas education; however the above referred program from the Australian university suits me the
best. With diverse peer group, I will get exposure to various international economies at the same
time and the same cannot be achieved while studying in India. Australia is ranked amongst the top
destination for higher studies.

Macquarie University, having a good reputation, is ranked among the best universities to study in.
Sydney being one of the preferred destinations in Australia for higher studies, I decided to pursue
Macquarie University’s Banking and Finance program. Sydney being the economic capital of Australia
will enable me to learn about the working of Australian Economy as well.

Post completion of the program, I intend to gain corporate experience in Australia for initial years
and then return back to India and put my skills to the best possible use to grow and be able to return
to the society by helping to develop the necessary skills in India for which I have to go abroad.
