 Cadet Oath: I pledge that I will serve faithfully in the Civil Air Patrol Cadet program, that I will
attend meetings regularly, participate actively in unit activities, obey my officers, wear my
uniform properly, and advance my education and training rapidly to prepare myself to be of
service to my community, state, and nation.

o CAP was Founded by the Honorable Gill Robb Wilson
o The 1st National Commander was Major General John F. Curry, USAAC
 Red Letter Day, 29APR43, the day that CAP was transferred from the Office of
Civilian Defense to the War Department
 Public Law 476, passed on 01JUL46, made CAP a non-profit organization
 Public Law 557, passed on 28MAY48, made CAP the official auxiliary of the US Air
Force
 During WWII CAP:
o Spotted 173 German U-Boats
o Sank 2 German U-Boats
o Dropped 57 depth charges
o Dropped 83 bombs
