Directions: Complete all appetizers, one entrée, two side dishes,
and one dessert. CIRCLE the options you are choosing to complete below.
Create a neat cover page that includes a title corresponding to the
information discussed in unit 11. Each menu section should take up at least
one page in your booklet; label the top of the pages accordingly.

Each of these questions must be answered in paragraph form with at least five sentences.
 Explain why Georgia is significant to the Civil Rights Movement.
 How has the Civil Rights Movement impacted your life?

 Create a Venn diagram or double bubble graphic organizer that compares Georgia in 19__ (choose a year
between 1945 and 1975) and Georgia in 2017. The graphic organizer must include at least 5 similarities and
10 differences.
 Imagine you are a person living during the Civil Rights Movement (you can choose to be a key figure within
the Movement if you prefer). Describe what life is like for you. Make sure you tell your reader what year it is,
where you live, what race you are, and all other important details. This should be written in essay format and
must contain at least 4 paragraphs.
 Create a timeline of events that occurred between 1945 and 1975 that relate to Georgia and the Civil Rights
Movement in some way. Include a brief explanation of the event and how it relates to Georgia. At least 15
dates must be included.
 Create a Criss-Cross (crossword) puzzle using at least 20 of the vocabulary terms from the unit . Include an
answer key on a separate page. Feel free to use the following website to create your puzzle:

 Write a song or poem that persuades politicians to pass new civil rights laws (the song/poem should be set in
the time before the Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964). The song/poem must be at least 15 lines.

 Explain what the slogan “The City too Busy to Hate” means. Which city is this referring to? Is this a good
thing or a bad thing? Defend your answer.
 Discuss at least one negative and two positive impacts that the 1996 Olympics had on Georgia.
 When did each of Georgia’s sports teams arrive to the state? Was this beneficial to Georgia? Why or why not?
 In your opinion, which person or event was the most influential to Georgia’s development between 1945 and
1975? Why? As long as you make a good argument, this does not have to be a person we discussed in class.
 Which do you think is a more effective approach for movements or revolutions: nonviolent or violent? Explain
the reasons for your choice.

 Draw/color a picture of an event from the Civil Rights Movement that is meaningful to you. Include a brief
explanation of what is occurring in the picture.
 Draw/color the following Georgia flags: the state flag prior to 1956, the state flag after 1956, and the current
state flag. Label the flags and provide a brief explanation of why they changed each time.
 Draw/color two maps of Georgia: one should show Georgia’s districts under the county unit system and the
other should show Georgia’s districts after reapportionment. Briefly explain the differences in the maps, and
briefly discuss why reapportionment was beneficial to Georgia.
