elder.

Position Summary
The Cleaner is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the facility, in line with Cleaning schedules.
The cleaner must ensure that all residents receive high quality care whilst always understanding and
respecting each resident’s rights and privacy.
Key work areas
Primary Responsibilities:
To ensure the facility is cleaned effectively as guided by Cleaning Schedules; Infection Control
Manuals; and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDA)
Accountable to the Line Manager for the quality and cleanliness of the facility
Provide high quality service is provided to Residents
Work within the parameters of their professional qualifications
Reports directly to the General Services Manager / Facility Manager
Model and demonstrate extensive knowledge of Arcare’s Values, Relationship-centred model of
care and Senses-framework
Specialist knowledge:
Knowledge and awareness of relevant regulation standards and legal requirements to ensure safe
work practices
Be aware of and work within the Arcare Vision and Philosophy of Well-being
Understanding of the ageing process, and willingness to attend compulsory training and/or
development sessions as directed, to further develop skills and knowledge
Ability to locate, reference and work within guidelines of Arcare Policies, Procedures and Forms
Customer service:
Provide customer service whilst understanding and respecting each resident’s rights and privacy
Prompt and courteous interaction with residents, families and colleagues
Promote the organisation in a positive manner which includes:
o wearing the defined uniform
o complying with dress-code
o displaying your ID badge at all times
o acceptable standard of personal hygiene
o courteous and acceptable communication with everyone
o identify opportunities to improve the service by using Arcare Quality Systems forms
Business/administration:
Resources will be used in a responsible, effective and cost-effective manner
Ensure relevant documentation is updated as required
Team development:
Work cooperatively with other team members to achieve expected team goals
Demonstrate a commitment to working positively within a team environment
Welcome and assist in the orientation of all new staff
Demonstrate a commitment to team processes which include participation in staff meetings;
personal development and social events
Continuous improvement:
To actively contribute toward maintaining facility safety and cleanliness by using Arcare’s
reporting mechanisms such as maintenance, quality improvement and hazard forms.
Maintain knowledge and skills relevant to your position through participation in staff meetings,
training sessions or in house education sessions as required or directed.
Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing self-development with participation in annual appraisal to
identify training needs.
Continuous improvement:
Understand and contribute to ongoing improvement of services offered to all stakeholders
Work within the relevant Government Health and Safety guidelines.
Have a commitment to ongoing personal and professional development
Qualifications
Essential:
Current Police Clearance and Statutory Declaration that does not preclude working in Aged Care
Team development:
Respect the role and contribution of others in your team
Involvement in care planning and evaluations; staff meetings; focus groups; personal
development and social events.
Demonstrate a commitment to working positively within a team environment
Demonstrate a welcoming and helpful attitude during the orientation of new staff and students.
Promote and inspire staff knowledge and skills in facilitating choice and control into each
interaction with an elder
Monitoring overload/stress and assisting staff with related emotional pressures
Including key staff members in care planning and care plan for families
