The basic things you should know to calculate the volume of 1 bag of cement
is,

. density of cement = 1440 kg/ m^3

. 1 bag = 50 kg of cement

. 1 m^3 = 35.3147 cubic feet

. 1 m^3 = 10^3 liters

Lets see how can we calculate the volume of 1 cement bag by using all the
values mentioned above.

In order to calculate the volume of any cement bag,

. We need to know the density of cement bag.

. I believe the standard density of 1 cement bag is equal to 1440

kg/m3.

. Density = mass/volume (ρ=m/V)

. So, V=m/ρ

. 50 kg ÷ 1440 kg/m3 = 0.0347 m3 = 1.23 CFT

Hope this help.

Mr. Michael has already given a wonderful reply.

However, I believe that the density of cement is 1440 Kg/Cum.

Therefore , the volume of a 50 kg cement bag works out to be [ 50/1440 ]*1000

= 34.722 Litres .

For all practical purposes , I believe this can be considered as 35 Litres .

This , in British unit works out to be 1.23 Cft.

This is rounded off  as 1.25 Cft.  In concrete proportioning at site . the

measuring box is made as 12" x 12" x15 " and the volume is exactly 1.25 Cft.

Hope this gives you the specific answer.

Unit Weight (Density) of Cement in loose condition = 1440kg/m3 …….. (1)

We know that, Density = Mass/Volume

Therefore, Volume = Mass/Density …….. (2)

= 0.034722 Cum

Volume in Liters = 0.034722 x 1000 = 34.722 Lit.

i.e., 35 Liters

Converting Cum to Cft by multiplying 35.3147

We get,

Volume in Cft = 0 .0347 x 35.314 = 1.22539

= 1.225Cft

The question was - How do I calculate volume of 50Kg cement bag?

The simple answer is that volume = Weight/ density. Since you did not
mention the density of the cement, I will recommend this calculator to you.
Assuming it is Portland cement, the answer is 33.2 L.

Calculator: Volume to Weight conversion

Thanks for the A2A.

The calculation is simple.  Cement has a density of 1506kg per cubic metre.
Hence a 50 kg pocket of cement will have a volume of 0,0332 cubic metres or
33,2 litres.  However, i need to understand why you want this information,
because if it is to work out a mixture for concrete or mortar then you should
rather use proportions of the pocket of cement to sand and stone ratios for
the mix design.  Eg x buckets of sand plus y buckets of stone to one pocket of
cement will give you a concrete mix that will deliver the required strength
concrete.

The volume of cement bag is usually considered as 35 litres or 0.035 cum

(approximately)

The unit weight of the bag is 50 kgs

Density of cement in loose condition is 1440 kgs/cum

So, the volume of cement bag would = 50/1440 = 0.0347 cum ~ 0.035 cum
