the only way she could lose weight. All of our self inflicted trouble (and that amounts to about 98% of it comes from a lack of cooperation between the thinking, emotional and spiritual parts of our beingness. We might borrow an expression from the "younger generation" and say, you can be a super being simply by "getting it all together." For the experimental class which preceeded this book I ex- plained it this way: Upstairs I have a micro-computer system which includes a card reader, line printer and all the goodies. In order to get the card reader to talk intelligently with the rest of the system, there must be a control character in the first field of On card. If the reader gets a card with some other character or a blank in the control field, the computer will throw up its hands and run screaming from the room in utter confusion. So, always before I put a deck of cards in the hopper, I hold them up to the light to bn sure I can see the control character punched in all the cards-- if I see light through the expected holes, all is well, otherwise I must get rid of the error card to avoid throwing the computer into chaos. And it is quite the same with a human being—if all parts of year beingness are not aligned in cooperation so you can "see the Light," to act is to create chaos and confusion in your life. Both the Huna of Hawaii and the Theosophy of the well known Madame Blavatsky provide a useful concept of a mul- tiplicity of selves or bodies which go to make up the wholeness of it single individual, but they also give us the same trap of putting the mental self or body higher on the scale of effectiveness or con. trol than the emotional self or body. In both cases we are working (at the practical level) with four forms of beingness, the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual self or body. But let's avoid the trap and state simply that the physical body is controlled by the mental body which is controlled by the emotional body; which in turn is controlled by the casual or spiritual body (called in Hunn the "high self'). You can reach the "super being" level of effec' tiveness only when you have the four bodies lined up in the right order, even as I have to see the Light through the control character' punches in my computer cards. The Light-through-the-cards analogy has much to teach us about "getting it all together." Picture the source of Light as directly above your spiritual body (or high self), but in order to reach and affect the material world in your behalf, it must flow down through your emotional body, then from your emotional
