LESSON/TOPIC ACTIVITIES

UNIT 1. SETS AND SET Various printed objects with different characteristics were
OPERATIONS presented and then I let them identify which among those
objects have similarities in terms of uses and functions. Then
the students arranged the objects according to their similarities.
Those objects now belong to what we call a SET.
1.1 Sets and Subsets This topic was associated with real life examples like:
SET A {Mother of mercy Academy} – Universal Set
SET B {Grade 7 St. Joseph} – Subset of A
1.2 Basic Set Operations Venn Diagram was introduced. This is more on lecture
method.
UNIT 2. REAL NUMBERS
2.1 Subsets and Real Students were asked associate sets and subsets by real
Numbers numbers.
2.2 Properties of Real Properties of real numbers were introduced. I explained the
Numbers differences between Whole numbers, Integers, Rational
Numbers, and Irrational Numbers.
2.3 The Set of Whole The students cited examples in real life where whole numbers
Number are used.
2.4 The Set of Integers In this lesson they learn about the positive and negative
integers and they shared ideas and cited their differences.
2.5 Adding Integers Group activity and Lecture
2.6 Subtracting Integers Group activity and Lecture
2.7 Multiplying and Dividing Lecture and Board Work.
Integers
2.8 The Set of Fraction This topic was associated with real life examples like eating a
pizza, getting 4 out of 10 oranges, and budgeting their daily
“baon”.
UNIT 3. MEASUREMENT
3.1 Historical Development Lecture.
of Measurement We discussed about the history of measurement which started
from the most traditional way.
3.2 Measuring Instruments Printed materials were presented.
3.3 Perimeter, Area and Group activity.
Volume Students were assigned to solve a task in a form of a game.
They solved real life problems that was associated with the
lesson. (Discovery Learning)
UNIT 4. ALGEBRAIC
EXPRESSION
4.1 Terminology Different terminologies in Algebra was discussed like
variables, constants, coefficients, and others.
4.2 Simplifying Numerical Students’ are tasked to memorize the law of integers and was
Expressions asked to demonstrate in front of the class individually.
4.3 Verbal Phrase and The students are tasked to translate mathematical phrase to
Algebraic Expression verbal phrase through group activity in a form of a game
followed by the teacher’s discussion.
4.4 The Laws of Exponents Students’ are tasked to memorize the laws of exponents and
was asked to demonstrate in front of the class individually.
4.5 Adding and Subtracting Teacher’s lecture followed by a group activity.
Polynomials
4.6 Multiplying Polynomials Teacher’s lecture followed by a group activity.
4.7 Dividing Polynomials Teacher’s lecture followed by a group activity.
UNIT 5. LINEAR
EQUATIONS AND
INEQUALITIES IN ONE
VARIABLE
5.1 Linear Equations in One Lecture. Discussion of different terminologies. Introducing the
Variable differences of different types of equation emphasizing what is
liner among all of them. I explained what the meaning of one
variable is and how it differs from two or more variables.
5.2 Addition Property of This time, the students were given basic examples about
Equality addition property of equality and which is gradually applied to
linear equation.
5.3 Multiplication Property This time, the students were given basic examples about
of Equality multiplication property of equality and which is gradually
applied to linear equation.
5.4 Solving Equations The laws of exponents and the laws of integers were applied.
Involving More Than One Group activity and the lecture.
Operations
5.5 Linear Equations Lecture Method. The teacher discussed what an absolute value
Involving Absolute Value is and how it differs from an ordinary negative or positive
integer.
5.5 Mathematical Equations Introduction of the Language of Mathematics. How to translate
and Verbal Sentences verbal sentences to mathematical sentences. (Group
activity/Cooperative Learning and Lecture Method)
5.6 Solving Linear The difference between an equation and Inequality is presented
Inequalities and the students tried to solve a problem in inequality using
the learned method in solving equation since it follows the
same process. Follow up lecture and activity follows.
Unit 6. BASIC CONCEPTS
IN GEOMETRY
6.1 Undefined Terms Introduction of different terminologies in Geometry through
lecture method followed by an oral recitation and a short paper
and pencil test.
6.2 Angles The students were ask to recall prior knowledge about angle
sin their elementary grade and then followed by the discussion
to elaborate the lesson more.
6.3 Adjacent and Printed materials are presented followed by a board
Complementary Angles illustration.
6.4 Supplementary Angles Printed materials are presented followed by a board
illustration.
6.5 Angles Formed by Printed materials are presented followed by a board
Parallel Lines Cut by a illustration.
Transversal
UNIT 7. SOME PLANE
FIGURES
7.1 Polygons Printed Materials were presented followed by a group activity
and a follow up discussion.
7.2 Triangles Real life examples are used which are3 associated with the
lesson followed by a short game for evaluation.
7.3 Sides and Angle of a Board work and lecture followed by a group activity
Triangle emphasizing the difference between sides and angles and how
it related it is from each other.
