protection against corrosion, and type of metal, alloys and tempers.
2. Mill certificates and signed statements from fabricators certifying alloys from
which work is fabricated with delivery of material and equipment.
d. That surface preparation and coating use, mixing, application, and curing were
done in accordance with current printed recommendations of coating
manufacturer and in accordance with coating requirements in this specification.
B. Protect coated ferrous metal during handling, moving, and installation, by provisions
including: padding and blocking and use of canvas or nylon slings.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.01 MATERIALS:
A. Steel:
C. Aluminum:
2. Plates 6061-T6

Anchor rack frame to concrete by anchors. Bolt drainage plate to rack bars with Type
316 stainless steel bolts.
(NTS: Stop gates are limited to small, manually lifted gates for open channels. Larger
slide gates and hoist operated gates are specified under Section 15103: PREFABRICATED
SLIDE GATES).
A. Manufacturer:
B. Provisions:
1. Gates from aluminum plate reinforced for hydraulic conditions by aluminum angles
welded to plate so plate will not deflect more than 1/360 of span of gate under head
conditions.
(NTS: Consider following for large slide gates or where seating forces may be substantial.)
5. Guide frames with high molecular-weight polymer or other suitable bearing bars to
reduce coefficient of friction to value of 0.125 between frame or bar and slide gate.
A. Type A, R-7500 Series made by Neenah Foundry Co., Neenah, WI; an acceptable
equivalent made by Flockhart Foundry Co., Newark, NJ; or Type PG made by McKinley
Iron Works, Fort Worth, TX; or acceptable equivalent product.
A. Two cast steel hooks above each stop log for lifting wood stop logs. Hooks rated to
handle five times stop log weight.
A. Strainer Baskets:
1. Type 304 stainless steel all welded construction with full screens on three sides and
bottom and screen on lower half of front. Top open to influent sewer line.
2. Screen material from expanded stainless steel sheets 5/32 in. (4 mm) thick with 1-
1/2-in. (38 mm) diamond mesh pattern or equivalent woven stainless steel wire
mesh welded to frame.
B. Guide Rails:
3. Hot-dipped galvanized after assembly and fastened to structure with stainless steel
bolts and galvanized malleable-iron inserts.
C. Guides: Nominal clearance of 1/8 in. (3 mm) to 1/4 in. (6 mm) between basket and rails.
D. Steel Lifting Chain: Fasten heavy galvanized chain [safe working load 500 lb. (227 kg)]
to bail of basket with coupling link. Extend chain from basket to hook just below access
hatch. Furnished with pear-shaped link at top for lifting.
E. Access Hatch Doors: 1/4-in. (6 mm) thick steel floor plate with nonskid diamond pattern
tread surface. Each door with hinges locking hasp for padlock and lifting handle.
Frames constructed of structural steel angles with integral concrete anchors.
F. Portable Tripod: Hand-operated wire rope winch having sufficient lift for load hook to
reach bottom of manhole. Fit with hand brake and ratchet and pawl for safe load
suspension. Capacity of unit not less than 500 lb. (227 kg).
A. Structural Steel
A. All-welded construction and made of aluminum shapes of acceptable alloy and temper.
A. Sinks fabricated of Type 304 stainless steel. Identifying signs provided under Section
10999.
A. Provide items not specified herein of the size, shape, materials and details as indicated on
the drawings, and suitable for the purpose intended.
2.14 COATING:
