A one-piece aluminLtm die casting forms the
upper half of the luminaire ano mdles possi
ble the Silverliner's flowing style. The hous-
ing overlaps the refractor hoJding ring torm
ing a tight weather-shield for the interior of
the luminaire.

Specular AIzakLll alumjnum reilector for light
conlrol and duraor'rtV. The lower edge i-
doubled back and flanged to minimize the
trapping of light and to provide a positive
gasket seat.
The rellector rs ea\ily removed by releasing
the stainless steel spring-latch, but cannot
accidentally d,sengage lrom lhe housing.
Upon closing tl_F lunina re, the relrdctor rim
firrnly seats against the gasket. lt correctly
positions itself in relation to the refractor and
lamp fot correct photometric performance.

An accurately molded system of light-
controlling prisms provide the proper lateral
spread and vertical elevation to the light from
both the ldrrp dnd rel ector. lnp ref'actor i,
made of heat resistant (borosilicate) glass
and is mechanically interchangeable with
other manufacturers who offer interchange-
able glassware.

Cover
The hold 1g ring-bal ast cover is a one pipue
aluminum die-casting that locks the reflector-
refractor assembly into precise tilted optical
alignmenr when closed. A s.ngle-dulion,
quick-release, stainless steel latch permits
easy removal oI the glasswdrp 1om the ring.
A positive locking thumb latch at the front of
the holding ring provides a visual indication
that the hinged door is in the locked position.
A stainless steel hinge and hinge pin allows
easy removal of complete door assembly
wrlh a safety device which prevents acci-
dental unhinging, yet requires no special
action such as a button, tab or other means
for normaJ removal and replacement.

This slipfitter is universal and accomrnodates
1%, 1% and 2-inch brackets without any
additional or reversing of pans. A special
built-in pipe stop and clamp securely locks
a full 5%-inch portion of the bracket to the
luminaire. Davit poles, when used, must have
a minimLrm 5%-inch pipe tenon. Veltical
adjustment of + 3 degrees is provided for
leveling.

A rugged, high grade porcelain enclosed
socket is mounted in a die cast U shaped
support bracket. This bracket allows the
socket to be moved into four different ax al

tions providing low, standard, and high bean)

tions permit the OV-15 to meet all of the
requirements of the American Standard
Practice for Roadway Liqhting as sponsored
by the llluminating Engineering Society.

Completely Sealed Optical System
The Silverliner's refJector-refractor jLrnction,
as well as socket opening, is seaed for
optimum maintained light on roadways.
When the luminaire is closed, the gasket,
fitted to the reflector flange, is firmly seated
and compressed by the refractor rim. The
socket opening is sealed with a heat-resistant
fibre filtering gasket. No djft, insects, or
moisture can enter the optical system.

Ballasts are available as follows:
Dual range 115/230-volt, regulated output-
high power factor (voltage range is chang'
ed easily with two jurnper leads).
208-volt regulated output-high powerf actor.
265-volt regulated output-high powerf actor.
Dual range 230/460-volt regulated output-
high powerfactor (voltage range is chang-
ed easily with two jumper leads).
240-volt reactor-hjgh or normal powerfactor.
120-volt hi-reactance normal power factor,
Regulated output ballasts are two-winding
type.
All core and coil assemblies have ADUR-BlL
insulation. This insulation system leatures a
nominal BIL of '15 kv and accepts a 45%
voltage reduction before lamp dropout
occurs. All ballasts are tested at 4000 volts
to ground. These ballasts start Lifeguard@
mercLry lamps down to -20'F,
Dual Wattage
ReguTated output type ballast with dual
wattage output 175/250 walt is available
upon request in any of the normal primary
voltage range.
Ballasts are pre-wired using "fast-on" con-
nectors. The terminal block has pressure,
clamp type terminals and is located near the
bracket for easy wiring. As an added safety
feature, all connections are "dead-front,"

Lurninaires are available to operate mercury
lamps from a 6.6-anp or 20-amo series
circuit. These are epoxy encapsulated ballasts
which include both primary and secondary
termindls. Ballasls are pre-wired using
"fast-on" connectors,
The primary coil with 5000-volt insulation
(tested at 19,000 volts) permits opelation
from constant current ttansformers up to and
including 30 kw. The secondary coil is tested
at 4000 volts.
Series Circuit Loading: Allow the follow-
ing constant current transforrner capacity
per luminaire for proper operation:
250-watt lamps: 490 watts capacity at
20'F and above.

175-watt lamps: 375 watts capacity at
20'F and above.
