Types of Flash Animation


1. Frame by Frame - uses keyframes in every frame of the timeline
2. Tweening - in between; filling in the frames between two
keyframes
a. Motion
b. Shape
c. Classic

MOTION TWEEN
*type of animation that moves an object from one point to another
over a period of time
*starting position and size of the object is set into a keyframe
*ending position and size of the same object is set into a keyframe
*Flash program then automatically creates the content of the frames in
between the two keyframes to have the object MOVE from the start
point to the end point.
*can move an object horizontally, vertically, or diagonally across the
stage
*objects rotate in a circular fashion clockwise or counterclockwise
*VERY SMOOTH ANIMATION

Tips:
- To animate an object, it must be a symbol.
- If you want two objects to move at the same time, they must be
placed onto separate layers.
- Make sure that you select the correct frame on the correct layer when
inserting or editing a motion tween.
Steps:
1. Draw
 Draw an object at the starting point (keyframe on the
timeline) example: basketball
2. Convert
 Select and convert the drawn object to a movie clip.
 Modify > Convert to Symbol. (F8)
3. Ending Point
 Insert a frame (F5) on the frame number that you wish
to be ending position of the object. Example: frame 50
4. Motion Tween
 Right click on the layer, choose CREATE MOTION
TWEEN
5. Move
 Go to the ending point, move the object using selection
tool.

SHAPE TWEEN
*Another type of tweening animation
*transforms an object from one shape into another over a period of
time
*creates an effect similar to morphing
*can not only change the shape of an object but it can also be used to
alter the size, opacity, color, and location

Steps:
1. First Shape
 Using the Rectangle tool, draw a rectangle on the upper
left side of the stage.
2. Blank Keyframe
 On Frame 80, insert a blank keyframe. (F7)
3. Second Shape
 On Frame 80, using an Oval tool, draw a circle or an
oval.
 Tip: You may change the color and position of the
second shape.
4. Shape Tween
 On any frame between the two keyframes, right click
and choose CREATE SHAPE TWEEN.
