Reactions
Reactions (forces and moments) at restrained points or points assigned point springs are displayed either
as vectorial lines with numerical values in 3D or as tabulated values in plan. Net reactions on the slab from
columns (braces) or walls (ramps) can also be shown using arrows or tables. Soil reactions are displayed
as bearing pressure contours and can be plotted on the deformed shape or, alternatively, extruded.
The tabular results for nodal reactions (any node that is restrained or attached to a spring, including soil
springs) include a node label (this is the analysis model node), a point label (if the node occurs at a point
object location), the load case or combination or mode label (depending on the cases selected), the type of
load case or combination or mode, and the forces (Fx, Fy, and Fz) and moments (Mx, My, and Mz) .
Positive forces and moments are along the positive direction of the global axes using the right-hand rule.
The tabular results for column reactions (net force on slab) include a node label (this is the analysis model
node), a point label, the load case or combination or mode label (depending on the cases selected), the
type of load case or combination or mode, the forces (Fx, Fy, and Fz) and moments (Mx, My, and Mz), and
the global X and Y coordinates of the node. Positive forces and moments are along the positive direction of
the global axes using the right-hand rule.
The tabular results for wall reactions (net force on slab) include a wall (line) label, the load case or
combination or mode label (depending on the cases selected), the type of load case or combination or
mode, the total reaction forces (Fx, Fy, and Fz) and total reaction moments (Mx, My, and Mz) about the
center of the wall, and the global X and Y coordinates of the wall. Positive reactions are along the positive
direction of the axes using the right-hand rule.
The tabular results for soil reactions include an area object label (this is the area object supported by the
soil), an area element label (this is the analysis model element), a node label (this is the analysis model
node), the load case or combination or mode label (depending upon the cases selected), the type of load
case or combination or mode, the surface pressure, and the global X and Y coordinates of the
node. Positive bearing pressures are compressive.
