Hi!

Hi Nathalie
How are you? I’m fine. I’m on holiday with my mum and dad
in the south of Italy. We are in Matera. It’s a UNESCO World
Heritage Site and there are thousands of tourists here.
Matera is a modern town with a population of about 60,000
people. But there’s also a fantastic old town. Guess what?
The houses of the old town are in caves1 in the rock2!
The caves are the famous sassi of Matera. Some of the
cave houses are 9,000 years old. They’ve got living rooms,
bedrooms and kitchens just like3 normal houses.
I’m really lucky because our hotel is in a cave! It’s got
eighteen big bedrooms and a restaurant. My parents have
got a nice bedroom and a bathroom with a bath and a
shower. I’ve got a big bedroom with Wi-Fi and a shower,
but there isn’t a TV! It’s very quiet here.
