According to Amita Legaspi 2014, In the last three years, Grade 7 students of Caloocan
High school had to buy workbooks for their Filipino subject as there were no learning
materials issued by the DepEd delivered to their school.
During the school year 2013-2014, on the other hand, the workbooks for Lakan Dula
High school in Tondo, Manila, arrived during the 3 rd and 4th quarters. Before these
arrived, teachers had to photocopy materials and distribute these to their student. The
unavailability of learning materials is just one the problems still hounding the country’s
new basic education program, K to 12 in the years of its’ implementation. Yen Paunan,
a Grade 7 Filipino teacher at Caloocan High school, said they are utilizing
“Kayumanggi” a textbook used in previous curriculum, in their classes due to the
absence of the reference materials. Conrado Conterevas, head of Lakan Dulan High
school’s MAPEH department, said that the lack of learning materials is one of the
problems teachers are facing in the implementation of K to 12.
Statement Of the Problem
The researchers aim to know the learning materials used in Grades 11 and 12 during
the initial implementation of K to 12 program.
1. How adequate are the learning materials used in Grades 11 and 12 during the
initial implementation of K to 12 program?
3. What are the achievement levels of Grades 11 and 12 using such learning
materials?
GOVERNMENT, for them to be aware on the improvements they have to make for the
learning materials.
FUTURE RESEARCHERS, for them to continue what this research has started.
Hypothesis
• The assessment of the learners in their learning materials might not be sufficient
and enough to what they really wanted to have.
This study focuses on the learning materials that has been implemented on the
experimental years of K to 12 and how it affects the academic performances of Grade
11 and 12 students in New Era University Integrated School.
Methodology
In this research, the researchers used quantitative method to be able to get the data we
need and analyze the data gathered correctly. We used research instruments such as
survey forms. Purposive sampling is used in this research.
Research Design
The researcher made use of Quantitative Research Design to complete the study about
“Learning Materials Used in Grades 11 to 12 During the Initial Implementation of K to 12
Program.”
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
1. How adequate are the learning materials used in Grades 11 and 12 during the initial
implementation of K to 12 program?

Summary of the Findings
-There are 41.90% students over all in grades 11 to 12 who said that
quantity learning materials in the implementation of k to 12 program are sufficient
to sustain every students.
-There are 19.74% students who answered that the quantity of learning
materials are average.
-On the other hand, there are 14.26% who indicated that learning
materials are still lacking in terms of its’ quantity.
Conclusions
The conclusions that can be drawn from this research are the following:
-There are few students who said that learning materials on the first
implementation of K to 12 are still lacking in terms of its’ quantity and needs further
improvement.
