In 1926 on June 1st Norma Jean Mortensen was born in Los Angeles General Hospital. When she was 8 Norma
Jean’s mother became ill and some English people offered to look after the child. When the English couple could
no longer take care of her, she went into an orphanage. At the age of 11 she left the orphanage and went to the first
of a series of families. After leaving school at the age of 16 she married an 18-year-old young man.
