Equipment Checklist

Standard Computer Null Modem Connection Cable

Computer with minimum specification of windows 98.
Deif Utility Software (either in CD ROM format or e-mail of the file)
Deif Application File
Deif Parameter File

Instructions

On receiving the e-mail there should be two attachment files, listed below.

File 1- Deif Utility Software

This is the platform software that is installed onto the computer. This is the software that
allows you to communicate with the deif unit and make any software changes, and
parameter amendments.

File 2-Application Software (a.37 File)

This file is the software that the Deif unit actually runs on and is unique to Aggreko PLC.
This can be downloaded to the unit via the utility software on the computer. This process
clears the deif unit’s memory and installs the new software version.

1. Installing Utility Software

Double click on the file named:-

This will then prompt you to save the file to disc if you have not already done so. Select a
location for the file i.e. My Documents or similar.
You can then minimise outlook and go to the destination folder (the folder you have saved
the previous file in) and double click on the icon named MULTILINE2.

This will bring up a multiline welcome message explaining you are about to install the
software, click NEXT.

Click next to this read me information window.

The next window is verifying the directory it is going to install the software to. Click NEXT.

The next window asks if it should include the deif icon in the program Folder. Click NEXT.

The next folder asks is everything is ok verifies it is going to install this program. Click
NEXT.

This is the final folder that has a checked box of “run program now”, click FINISH.

The program will then boot up and you should finish up in the utility software, this will be
a blank screen with some headings along the top and side. As shown below.

This is the software installed onto the computer and you are now ready to communicate
with the Deif unit. Using this software you can re-configure the unit, upload and download
parameter lists and also check I/O lists.

Downloading Application Software To Deif Unit

To complete this task you will have to connect a standard computer null-modem cable (9-
hole SUB-D female/female) between the com1 of the computer and the service port of the
deif unit.
From the utility software go to the connection menu and select CONNECT; ensuring the
deif unit is powered up although the machine does not have to be running. As shown
below.

Select the small lightening strike symbol from the top task bar menu just below
PARAMETERS. This will then open a window asking you to choose a file.

Now select the file from the folder you have stored the application file in i.e. MY
DOCUMENTS, you may have to move up or down folders until you find my documents
and then the actual application file. This file is an “. a37 “file and could be named
“2.20.6.a37”for example?

Double click on this file and you will go back to your application control window now with
the option to START DOWNLOAD/REFLASH of this file. Click on YES, the window will
now say Flashing E-prom for about 10 seconds then a status bar will appear with the
application file being downloaded. Once transferred the window should read transfer
successful and the Deif unit itself should reboot with this new revision of application
software installed.

Downloading The Parameter File

It is important that before you transfer these parameters to the unit you set the unit to
the correct machine size and type. This can be done by using the hand held Deif display
and pressing JUMP.
This will lead you to a screen asking you to enter a menu number, press up until the
menu number reads 5000. Once the number reads 5000 press SEL, Password 2000
entering this will lead to a screen with APPLICATION and a number opposite.
Number 1:-QSK45 APPLICATION
Number 2:-TWINPACK APPLICATION
Number 3:- QSK60 APPLICATION
Number 4:- 50G3 APPLICATION

If the number is not the required change this before carrying on to the next steps
ensuring the unit is in the correct application. This can be done easily by pressing
SEL, it then prompts you for a password which is 2000, then SEL again, now change
the number up or down accordingly. Once you change the number remember to save this
by moving the cursor across to save, now press jump and menu 6000 which will verify
you are in the right machine size.

The following steps are not required for 2.20.6.a37 file or newer revisions as
this is done automatically by the .a37 file.

The parameter file can now be downloaded by firstly going to the PARAMETER screen
from the choices on the left of the screen. Now go to the FILE menu from the top left of
the screen and then select open.

This will then open a window prompting you as to what file you wish to open, go to the
folder you have stored this file in i.e. MY DOCUMENTS. The file name is
QSK60SETTINGS for example; open this file and the parameters will appear on the
screen.

Ensure the computer is still connected to the Deif unit by going to CONNECTION. Now go
to PARAMETERS and then DOWNLOAD, a few seconds later a window should appear
saying download successful.

All the appropriate parameters are now in the DEIF unit and the unit has the correct
level of software.
The level of software the unit is running on can be checked by pressing jump on the
small hand held deif display and selecting 6000, this will tell you the configuration and
software revision.

The parameter file should be kept for future use as this is the factory settings for this
particular machine should anyone change the parameters in the unit in the future they
can be restored using this file.
