This app is a good alternative for learning management system where student can access class
resources, take online assessments, submit homework assignments, see announcements, and
contribute through class discussions. The app shows the courses the student is enrolled where the
teacher can organize the course according to her preferences/needs. As soon as a new assignment is
posted, the students can see the announcement on the right side with the due date. The advantage of
the app is that it is accessible by students and parents at any time as long as they have the access code.
They do not depend on physical homework delivering which requires them to find the teacher or be at
school. This way, the student can be independently take care of their work. The most important
advantage for a teacher is the availability at no cost. The disadvantage is that it is too efficient for
grading of some assessments. Normally in the absence of this app, I would have to print the assignments
and make sure that I collect everyone’s deliverable work, etc. However, with schoology, I could just
upload the resources and the deliverables, the students can see exactly what they need.

Inspiration is a great app for making diagrams, feedback loops, charts, family trees, etc. The students
can drag the shapes with text boxes, link the boxes with arrows and even add notes on the arrows. They
can incorporate pictures and colors in their designs, which will help them understand and see the some
concepts better by mapping it out for themselves. The advantage is that it is user friendly and the
disadvantage is the fee. Sometimes schools do not approve it when there is a cost free alternatives for
it. In my classes, the students have to prepare concepts map and share it with each other for
discussions, etc and if it were a concept map on the lab journal, it would take more time to create and
more resources would be needed to get the desired outcomes such making it colorful or adding images,
etc. Afterwards, they would have to spend time to show to their classmates.

The logger app is a great tool for hands on activities and obtaining the appropriate data on the
computer in a clean and accurate way. For instance, when students learn about the nervous system,
specifically the voluntary and involuntary reflexes, they can easily perform it by conducting the Vernier
reflex activity and obtain the data and graph on the computer for analysis.

Lynda contains vast amount online videos on variety of topics in the best quality. The link can embedded
in the curriculum instructions and the students can easily access it by just clicking on it. So far I have not
seen any disadvantage of it, but the advantage of it is to meet the learning needs of students with
different learning styles such as visuals and auditory. Instead of making my students read through the
book and imagining certain concepts, I could easily show the video in linda.com to enhance their
understanding. Moreover, the videos are prepared by professionals and are up to date.

A stop motion app is prepared predominantly for apple products, where students can take pictures of
instances or different images and it will make a video of it where student can record their own voice to it
and create a story or explain the sequence of events. The advantages are the easy usage, cost free, and
an efficient tool for student to incorporate into their presentations. The disadvantage is that it is limited
to apple products. I would use this for my students to utilize as alternative to small group presentation
that would take place on the table and only one time, but if it was prepared by stop motion I could use it
for years to come if I wanted to.
