1.0 Scope:
This procedure describes the actions to be taken to minimize waste
And the storage and disposal process at local site level.

2.0 Purpose:
This procedure gives general guidelines and instruction for waste
Management at local site level.

3.0 Applicability:
This procedure is applicable to only at BHEL-KAPP 3 & 4
Construction site only.

4.0 Reference:
This procedure is referring to following procedure.

5.0 Procedure:
Waste generated by construction activities, such as scrap, damaged
or spoiled material, temporary and expendable construction material, and
aids that are not included in the finished project, packaging material, and
generated by the work force.

The amount of waste material on site can be minimised and control through
minimise waste and re-use and recycling.
Waste shall include on BHEL-KAPP site.

 Designated a waste collection area on the site where scrap material should
be dumped.
 At work place on various floors a waste bins have been kept.
 Scrap bins/containers should be placed at construction site where work
will be going on
 Ensure that containers are stored in a covered area whenever possible.
 Schedule waste disposal to prevent the containers from overfilling.
 Collect, remove and dispose of all construction site waste at NPCIL
authorized disposal area.
 Wood scrap should be removing from site immediately and dispose at
NPCIL authorized disposal area because it is fire hazard.
 Leakage of oil at the TG floor should be clean immediately
 Daily basis housekeeping is required whenever leave the work place/site.
 Consult with local authority for disposal of Hazardous waste

 To prevent leak, empty and clean hazardous waste containers before


disposing of them.

6.0 Limitation:
An effective waste management system requires training and
signage to promote awareness of the hazard of improper storage, handling
and disposal of waste. The only way to be sure the waste management
system to be followed is to be aware of worker habit and to inspect storage
area regularly. Extra management time may be required to ensure that all
workers are following the proper procedure.

7.0 Effectiveness:
Waste management practices are effective only when they are
regularly practiced at construction site. In storage and work areas, post the
guidelines for proper handling, storage and disposal of construction site
waste. Trained worker in these practices to ensure that everyone is
knowledgeable enough to participate.

8.0 Records:
A copy of this procedure shall be kept by BHEL safety section.
