Name of Article: The Effects of a buddy bench on elementary students solitary behavior during
recess

Summary:

This article talks about one of the many ways social skill instruction and behavioral
support can have a positive effect on students who might have emotional or behavioral disorders
but that it overlooks students with internalizing behavior. In order to solve this problem a study
was created that test the “buddy bench” intervention. This will in hopes prevent problems that
might have serious repercussions, including social isolation, social withdraw, and suicidal
ideation. The buddy bench, allows peers to help withdraw students and socialize with them,
preventing social isolation behavior. The study examined students in grades 1 to 6 during recess.
The results concluded that solitary recess behavior decreased between 19% and 24%. Most of
the students were positive about the intervention using the buddy bench, which the teachers
showed no change and were simply neutral.

Title of Article: Multimedia Instructional Tools and Student Learning in an Integrated


Business Application Course

Summary:

This study explores and investigates the usage of multimedia instructional tools (MMITs)
inside an integrated business applications course, in hopes to determine if there is a
statistically significant difference in the scores gained by the students between the pretest and
posttest of high school students that used the traditional paper and pencil method, while the
other students used the computer method. The study also investigated the students intrinsic
value, self-efficacy, and test anxiety to determine whether using MMITs would result in a
change in motivation of the students within the course. The study used two high schools in
the same school district located in South Carolina. The study is a quantitative descriptive
comparative study. The theories used were constructive learning theory, motivational theory,
and cognitive theory of multimedia learning, formative assessment, and retention theory. The
results of the data showed minor statistical significance of the analysis between the two high
schools.

in the water or around the fire. Math by the Month features different collections of short activities
each month that focus on a monthly theme. There are four activities each for a different grade ranges,
K-2, 3-4, and 5-6. Finally it discusses the benefits of camping with your family. The memories are etched
in every student.
