Building
same is approved by the Employer.
Nevertheless, the comments included in this letter are
provided in order to accelerate the review process.

The Engineer considers that the Contractor’s proposals for

the filter system is not acceptable. The proposal is difficult
to maintain and is considered to be less reliable than the
Water Intake maintenance system in the Employer’s Requirements. The 3
and Filter Contractor is required to adopt a system for water intake and
System filters equivalent to that in the Indicative Drawings DPW-
015-250 and DPW-015-251. Please note that in these
drawings, the filters are deliberately outside the foot print of
the pump house to allow uplift for maintenance by means of
a mobile crane.

Air Outlet Noted that the Contractor has confirmed that the direction of
from the air from the radiator will be from inside of the pump house to
1
Engine outside. No further comments.
Radiators

The Engineer does not consider there to be any advantage in

the location of lighting beacons and sirens proposed by the
Lighting 2
Contractor. The Engineer considers installation on the roof
Beacons and
is better because it will be more audible and more visible.
Sirens
Please place the lighting beacons and sirens on the roof of the
pump house or explain the advantage of the proposed
changes.

a) The Engineer has no comment regarding the main pump

levels indicated in the drawing D04-147583-180507.
Please indicate the level of installation of the jockey
pump. Please correct the levels indicated in Drawing
Outline D04-147583-180204. 3
Drawings b) Please note the above comments regarding the water
intake and filter system.
c) The Engineer has no comments regarding the position of
the containerized pumping unit at this time. Eventually,
when the Contractor supplies the requested detail design
of dolphin, comments may arise.

Other general a) We note that the Contractor has adopted the SI system. 2
Comments on Please add a legend in the drawings noting the units being

The Engineer has the following comments regarding the

Material List in drawing D04-147583-180204:
a) The third column of the table says “QTY” when it should
say “Material”
b) The references 12 and 27 of the Material List are not
indicated in the drawing.
c) The reference 37 of the drawing is not indicated in the
Material List.
d) Please, review and correct the quantities of the elements.
Many items are quantified as 1 but are shown as 2 in the
drawing.
e) Please indicate the connection point of the earthing.
Additionally, clarify how the earthing will be connected.
2
f) Incorporate anti-spill trays for batteries and fuel tank.
Material List g) Clarify where the following pipes are connected, Gear
cooling 3/8” (32) and Gear Cooling Outlet 3/8” (33).
Please indicate if it is potable water or sea water.
h) Please indicate in the material list and the drawing the
12V battery powered emergency lighting system. Please
note that the batteries of the emergency lighting system
shall be independent from the battery pack of the ignition
system of the fire pump engines. Refer to Section
C.8.2.1.8 of Employer’s Requirements
i) Please, clarify whether the “Distribution Panel
Panel”(sic) indicated with reference 7 is in reality the
Low Tension Switchboard to feed all the fire pump
circuits including the general logic of the fire pumps
system and the corresponding battery pack chargers.
Please confirm that these circuits shall be fed at 110V
from the electrical distribution system of the terminal or
automatically from the battery pack in case of power
failure, and that the logic of the system will be powered
by a 110V circuit DC through a battery pack with its
corresponding charger. Please refer to the Sections

of 16 Kg/cm2. The Engineer accepts this
recommendation. Please provide the supplier’s
specification of these pressure gauges. Please note that
the Contractor has later proposed 25.49Kg/cm2 (25 bar)
instead of the 16Kg/cm2 recommended.

a) Please incorporate the information included in the

correspondence (20180508 CHE ENG 1300) in the
section of MAS “Philosophy of Operation and Start “
b) No comments regarding the statement that “the jockey
Control controller has a minimum run timer which it will be 2
System of the activated once the stop pressure is reached for a pre-
Pumps determined time which is typically 3 minutes because this
is to avoid multiple start/stops per hour so as to protect the
motor.”
c) No comments regarding the statement that “the main
diesel fire pump will start automatically without any time
delay. The 20 seconds time delay is for the backup fire
pump (Diesel Pump #2) when the pressure drop below
7bar”. Please upgrade this in the section of the MAS
“Philosophy of Operation and Start

For the avoidance of doubt, on the basis that the maintenance of the filter systems is
