Create the road alignment and plot the alignment profile using bearings or coordinates (easting
and northing)

METHODOLGY
All students would be given softcopy topographic drawings and they need to produce geometric design
funder following constraints/ guidelines in Civil 3d such as
-Design speed-75 Kmph
-Super elevation- 5.5%
-Maximum grades-±7%
-Balance cut and fill
-3 lanes in each direction each being 3.65 m wide
-Median-New jersey barrier,1 m high
-Right of way-100 m
-Pavement section
-Asphalt wearing course- 5 cm
- Asphalt binder course- 7.0 cm
-Aggregate base course-18 cm
-Granular sub base course- 30 cm Trapezoidal drain
-Cross slope: -1.5%
Shoulders: 1. 4 m wide - Cross slope:
-2.5% Drainage: Trapezoidal drain as per drawing
DELIVERABLES
The deliverable should consist of two part the report and the drawing

Surface detail report
-Plan at 100 m chainage,
25 m chainage for curve –
Horizontal alignment report –
Profile sheets with band
Vertical alignment report
Assembly
Corridors
Sections
Earth work volumes reports -Mass haul diagrams
