Students leverage technology to take an active role in choosing, achieving and demonstrating competency in
their learning goals, informed by the learning sciences.
Selected Technology Tool:
☐ Socrative ☐ iRespond ☐ Quizlet ☐ Plickers X Kahoot! ☐ Office365 Forms
☐ Other:

X Other wireless device (such as iPod Touch)
Type of session:
X Teacher-Paced ☐ Student-Paced
Bloom’s Taxonomy Level(s):

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

• Supports ELL students (Kahoot incorporates images)
• Supports visual learners
• Helps students with attention disorders (due to the game aspect, it grabs their attention more,
efficient)
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
We will go over a presentation on the American Indians as well as conduct an activity based on the American
Indians that the students will complete. This presentation and activity was presented in a separate lesson
plan. The presentation is via NearPod and the activity is, “Create a presentation that compares and contrast
two of the six American Indians groups we talked about. Please make sure to include audio and images. Your
presentation should also include comparison of their clothing, food, and shelter. Presentation formats (not
limited to): PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.”
Please keep in mind that this can a couple days to complete to complete the presentation, activity, then SRT
activity. After we’ve completed the student directed activity and NearPod presentation, the SRT activity will
be presented to the students, “Now that we have completed our presentations and presented, it’s time to
see what we have learned from the material I have presented to you as well as your classmate’s
presentations. We will be completing a Kahoot game based on the American Indians. Let’s see who can
answer these questions fastest. Are you ready?”
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):

Student Response and Assessment Tools
X Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) X To illuminate common
misconceptions X Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and mastery
for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge X Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

The students will be participating in a Kahoot quiz. This will be set up as a ‘race’ as well as a quiz. Students will
answer the questions based on the American Indians and whoever answers the questions quickest is the
winner although they’re all winners. Students will need a device that has the Kahoot app or a
computer/laptop where they can access Kahoot. This activity should last no longer than twenty minutes.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☐ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
https://play.kahoot.it/#/k/c5f92a40-f0e1-41f0-945d-2ac6c55ae215
Questions are the same as the Plickers sample.
Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
X Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
X Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
So that they know what areas they can approve upon before a summative assessment.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
We will go over the correct answers and why those answers are correct.
How will the data be used?
The data collected will be what the students got incorrect. This will be used by the teacher and students. The
teacher will use this data to adjust any future lessons and help to students (scaffold, differentiate). The
students will use this as a self-assessment and therefore study/work on the areas they struggled in.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
I have never tried SRTs before, so a personal goal is to try it and reflect upon what went well and what didn’t
and how I can use this newfound knowledge and build upon it. I hope that students are able to learn how to
use this type of technology and how they can use the data retrieved to improve themselves as far as
academics go.
Reflective Practice:
To further this activity, the teacher can have the students create their own SRTs and use this as a way to
review the material. For example, students can create Quizlet flash cards/quizzes and share it with one
another. To further this even more, we can post the students Quizlets on the class blog.
