(Washington) Compassionate Passage: one compassionate passage
during the duration of the contractual employment to all
members of the family in the event of the death of the
father or mother of either spouse or any child or a close

relative (brother or sister of an officer or of the spouse),
when the death occurs in Mauritius or outside Mauritius.

Official Travelling: Club class air or first-class railway

fares payable for any official travelling by air or train. An
Official car put at their disposal in the country of posting.
All running and maintenance expenses of the car is
normally met from public funds.

End of year bonus: As approved by Government

(normally one month salary).

Tax: Liable to Income Tax in Mauritius on salary, extra

remuneration and service allowance. Tax is exempted on
other allowances.

Leave:
Annual leave at the rate of 21 working days for every year
of contract.
Unutilized annual leave may either be cashed or may be
accumulated.
Sick leave at the rate of 21 working days for every year of
contract.
Sick leave not taken in a particular year would not be
convertible into cash.

Service Allowance/Gratuity: Equivalent to two months’

salary on completion of 12 months’ satisfactory service.
